Hi Gigigadd

Pleased you like it. The pavers are Jura Beige Limestone from London Stone, the riser is just render painted an off-white colour. The fence and trellis are from Jackson Fencing and are Hit and Miss Horizontal fence panels and Venetian trellis panels respectively. The sofas are from Westminster furniture company.

Congratulations on the new house, looks stunning and full of charm! I'm guessing you want to keep the current furniture? If you do then there's still lots you can do while staying sympathetic to the character of the house. You said want to add your stamp to it. Why not have a bit of fun and run through some ideas about what you like, maybe inspired by an era, or style? Mid century, nautical, or even countries you have visited? Think about what time you'll be using the room, etc. Inject some quirkiness, through interesting patterns on your soft furnishings, rugs, and even the curtains. You could even think about re-arranging the furniture to suit you. Add some colourful pieces in the scarce rooms with a stylish ottoman or side tables on either side of the sofa with interesting and oversized lamps to add some symmetry, adding different layers of lighting will make the room elegant and stylish. A great blank canvas ! You could do allsorts. Build up the outside areas to make different height patios and sitting / eating areas? Build up the sides and have water features around the edges? Build on the limestone wall and make it look like a natural water feature? Have a 'hanging deck' area that slightly goes over the pool? I threw in the elephant water feature below for fun !

Hello Nic, the views from the decking are indeed lovely. If you want to make the decking connect with the garden (and the outside world) even more, have you thought of having an awning over the decking? That would also create an outdoor living and entertaining space - protected from the elements (sun, glare, rain, etc.). To illustrate what I mean, attached is a photo of an awning over decking on the first floor like yours. Regards, Joy

There's not a lot of difference in price now between good quality sandstone, don't buy cheap, you get what you pay for, and porcelain. As there are now new regulations coming in to force on how paving is laid, there is not a lot of difference in labour between the two. Porcelain is much cleaner and easier to maintain and would give you a nice contemporary finish to match with the house. Most porcelain, but do check, has a slip rating of R11 which is ideal for outside. Have a look at the Marshalls range and London Stone as they have some beautiful finishes which you won't get with natural stone.
