Living Rooms Home Decorating Paint

what paint colour

We are stuck. We don’t know what colour to paint the walls in our living room. Do we go for different colours on different walls, do we put wood panelling up. Sofas, curtains and wood furniture are in a light grey, cushions and a couple of accessories are in the pink. The room is north facing. The double doors open on to our south facing kitchen/diner. Room is 17ft x 11 foot. We want a room that is relaxing Any colour ideas would be much appreciated

I like your grey walls. Soft and cosy. It’s a lovely room and I think it just needs more accessories. Soft pink accessories would look lovely with the grey as Sarah suggests. If pink’s not for you, soft blue or grey-green would look lovely. I would add a nice big rug (see photos below for ideas), more cushions and art. The room at the moment has all the furniture stuck to the walls with a big empty space in the middle. Bring the furniture in a bit, front legs on a rug, then add a coffee table or footstool. Much cosier!

Thanks so much for your comments! The walls and door frames are currently white not cream my apologies for the bad lighting, the bedspread isn't normally on, it's my back up for when my normal one is in the wash! The bedspread is normally cream with gold trim. The birds and flowers on the wallpaper are actually gold which is why is suggested that colour as is the frame on the mirror. It's a very subtle washed down gold nothing too in your face!

I would go with a shade or two lighter than Cashmere. It seems like you want understated elegance in this room, and you’ve chosen a stunning wallpaper which provides a lovely texture and anchors the grey palette.

I also love their colours and styling! i think Colin King and Rosie Seawood have done a few of their recent campaigns. There looks to be a similar wall colour on Rosie’s instagram page where someone asked the colour but sadly no reply i’ve got no idea what the colours are like in real life but I’ve transposed farrow and ball cane (behind plant and orange coloured white (the side of the chest of drawers etc). May be worth a try
