bathroom/cloakroom ideas

Hi - looking to redecorate this cloakroom. I really don’t like the wood colour of the vanity. Should we paint the vanity white? Also looking to paint the walls or use wallpaper slight issue is this cloakroom is large for a cloakroom so don’t want to overwhelm with wallpaper. Rest of the house is mostly grey or navy blue but stuck with the taupe colour of the tiles and black countertop so not sure what to do. Any help welcome! Thanks!

If it's a plasterboard ( 'stud') wall, then it shouldn't be a big deal to remove it. I presume that you intend to retile the toilet? So removing the wall would not only open the room up but also reduce the area/cost of tiling. With regards o the plumbing, I'm not a plumber and can't see much from the pics, but I'd imagine your hot water comes from your combi boiler. It seems odd that one water pipe would supply all the flats in the building - normally the water board run the water mains to the outside of the house and then a supply to each flat branches out from there - so each flat would have it's own stop cock to shut the water off. It would be weird to find a stop cock inside the wall.... are you sure that this pipe supplies the whole building??

Update -- my plumber finally returned. Not sure what he did while here, but he told me again it wasn't working -- then he did some work on a radiator which had a small leak. We were having a long discussion about options on pumps, new showers, taps etc and I read out the installation guide and he tried it again, and suddenly it worked. It is bizarre as I don't know how many times i tried it previously. My friend who works in construction ALSO called earlier today and tried it several times to no avail. It must have been extremely stiff or perhaps the plumber realised some airlock whilst fixing the radiator since I think water pressure is much stronger since he went. Thanks for everyones help -- i learned lots on plumbing and a valuable lesson to take out the installation manuals myself and not trust that trades men know everything!!! I feel like celebrating!!
