Paint Design Dilemma

colour to go with Inchyra blue

Hi everyone,

We want to paint our bedroom F&B Inchyra Blue. I'm not sure what colour the ceiling paint should be... Has anyone got any pictures or names of paint colours that would suit?

White would look fresh but if you didn't want a true white you could go for something like Strong White which has a grey tone to it. If you want a deeper colour, Hardwick White is one of the recommended complimentary colours.

Now I think you have a good point there. Choosing a deeper neutral sounds good. I’m a fan of colour and I have a Dulux minty green in my kitchen, F&B Cromarty in my sitting room, Dulux Egyptian Cotton in the bedroom and aqua in the other bedroom. All these shades are soft though so not garish, apart from a navy feature wall in kitchen. Dulux do some lovely neutral shades like Perfectly Taupe, Chic Shadow and Polished Pebble. Of course colours are affected by the light in the room and those sort of shades can look a bit grim in a dark north facing room. PERFECTLY TAUPE CHIC SHADOW POLISHED PEBBLE

Great colour choice!

Try Wevet or Dimpse to complement, both with dash of grey.

For a warmer and more contemporary feel use Vardo.

A reasonably near match to Wevet is this NCS colour (available by Johnstone’s). It’s a touch warmer than Wevet. Worth viewing in your space first, to check that it doesn’t flash purple-ish. (ALL low Chroma colours, near neutrals, from this Hue Family neighbourhood are prone to shifting purple in imbalanced lighting.)

I’m a great fan of brilliant white. All my ceiling are brilliant white and I love it’s freshness.

Johnstones will do a look a like of Wevet. All they need is the colour code to input into their machine. I grabbed a tester pot of Wevet last week off them. Back tomorrow for the big tin. I like the colour.

Johnstones is a portion of the price of F&B. I always use Johnstones paint. It goes on a treat.

We used F&B Sulking Room Pink in our bedroom with the same blue, which is more a dark green in reality. Very wow, very sophisticated! We used a F&B consultant and don’t have one white ceiling in our house; we were nervous but so glad now that we took the plunge!

Hi get some paint cards they will show you sample colours , so much easier to match , it might surprise you what colours you can play around with , not just the normal white ceiling , take the risk , you might just love

Why the obsession with F&B on Houzz? Used it once, made my ceiling look very patchy. Redone with Dulux, much better finish and half the price. Had to redo my walls too 😫

It’s worth being mindful that in general, on the ceiling plane, colours have a tendency to look that bit darker & more greyed than they might appear on the wall.

But Ammonite + Inchyra are certainly a lovely pairing.

Juby be radical - paint the ceiling the same fab colour and use a toning 'white' colour for doors, sills and skirtings. Just done it! Looks amazing.
