Gold or Chrome handles with a Cashmere Kitchen?

Hi, I’ve just had my new cashmere coloured kitchen installed, I was originally going to have brushed chrome round handles but due to so many items being out of stock
I ended up going for brushed gold. I have sort run with the theme and got pendant lights with a touch of gold too. My kids really don’t like it but my husband loves it and I’m completely divded. If I stick with the gold i’ll get bar stools with a touch of gold too. If I go chrome I’d replace the pendants to something chrome too and get brushed chrome bar stools I’m completely torn on which why to go, so any opinions would be grateful received. (NB the cupboards still have the film)

I don't have a main wall as such i'm painting as going to feature brick effect paper...I have 2 large double sliding doors that open into the sitting room. Comments (81)Well, the chippies van was up the drive when I got home from work - a little unexpected. At first I thought that he was sleeping with the Mrs, but then I remembered that he needed to finish the skirting boards. He's done a cracking job - quite a few tricky internal/external corners, plus the corners not being exactly 90 degrees he was back and forth to his saw all the time. He really did a stirling job. It was 13 meters of skirting in total - which took him 4.5 hours in total (over 2 evenings) and it cost me £90. Considering I was origionally going to do it, it could well be the best £90 I've spent on this whole kitchen. I need to get a lick of paint inside the alcove that's pictured. Our little fishtank will be returning in there, but as it's out I may as well do it. When we get the bar stools, and dining room table & chairs I will update again. So: What would I change/add/remove ADD - Somewhere to hang the tea-towels. We have some on the inside of a cuboard, but they keep falling off. Maybe I need some slightly more expensive 'hangers'. The space where they could have gone we put a spice rack/draw thingie - that's probably better though. ADD - We forgot about the bin! Now we have our pedal-bin basically kicking around the kitchen. The Mrs has already filled the cupboards to maximum capacity so I'm having trouble getting an internal cupboard one past her. I think I may just fit one then deal with her later. The bin has gravitated to a semi-perminant place, but with the kids trying to be *cough* helpfull the wall is already beginning to get the odd splatter of 'stuff' where they just throw their food in the general direction of it. Last night I said 'Well, why don't we just put it in the utility room' - She shot that idea down instantly as she obviously isn't happy about the extra 4 steps that it would take to walk all-that-way into another room. Poor thing! Typical woman lol. ADD - At the start of the project I would have got the electricians to chase in another mains wire from the fusebox so that it comes out of the kitchen wall centrally to the back garden, then I would put a PIR Security Light in. I know that it's not a big job by any means, and I could, and probably will, do it myself over the coming weeks but if I could have had it without a wire on the outside of the house then that'd would have been perfect. Also, thinking about it, I would have actually got him to do it at the front of the house as well as he re-wired the whole downstairs with new fusebox etc....See MoreRose gold taps
Comments (3)Hello Ellora, Personally I would steer clear of cheap taps and look to offset the expenditure elsewhere in your design process. Taps are not something you can afford to get wrong. They are the bling in the bathroom etc and so need to be right. The Elements range by Watermark are in my opinion worth the splash out ! (on a par with Kohler) The Karbon is what I would choose for a kitchen from K) With the Elements range by Watermark you can choose the components to make a bespoke configuration re the knobs.. I think they are fabulous... Here's a little design I put together with the rose gold as this is what you are favouring. However there are many fabulous finishes and configurations you can select. I personally think theres no definable placement re the knobs so I put them together in my design as opposed to either side. The below is a close up of the rose gold and marble version I had used. Remember bottle traps and waste when considering finishes such as rose gold or anything other than chrome which I personally hate.. If not going for golds or brass.. choose Nickel for a silver finish that is a sophisticated superior to chrome- but it all depends on the materials they pair with as to what looks best.... :))...See MorePlease help with choosing kitchen handles/knobs
Comments (7)Hi Erin, LOVE the worktop you have chosen. Have you considered using no handles at all and having push in/out door openers instead? This would compliment the simple and minimalist design of the worktop and keep everything pure. Sometimes handles can make an elegant design feel a bit busy but if you have your heart set on handles then you could perhaps think of using handles just on the base units and then going for the push in/out door openers on the wall units. I would stay away from black. Black fixtures are very popular at the moment and look great but you have the softness of the concrete and white so go for something that is softer and warmer in tone to compliment these. They also won't date so quickly. If you do decide to do away with handles all together, the eye will naturally be drawn to other parts of your kitchen and you can throw more emphasis on the flooring and worktop.
