We had an original quooker Tao fitted over 10 years ago, and it is still without doubt our most used and loved gadget - and I couldn’t be without it!

However, I get the issue with price - my very basic one cost a lot back then, and the new ones are astronomical!!!

My brother has literally just had his kitchen done and couldn’t afford a quooker. However after seeing reviews on here, I told him about another brand called qettle - they’re a British company, and they bought that instead! It’s much cheaper than quooker and is fantastic!! Like the quooker, it’s a 100 degree boiling tap (some other options aren’t actually 100 degrees and water - and for a big tea drinker like me, that’s essential!).

I forgot to say - qettle do an all in one tap for just over £500. They also do a stand alone “mini” boiling tap for around £400. My original quooker is the equivalent of the mini (only because that was all available back then!) - the only issue with this option is that you end up with two taps - one for normal water and one for the boiling water.

Absolutely! We find that 1/3 of our customers opts for one. Instant Boiling Water, but also safe enough for young families. Models & Prices Vary from Good, Better, Best. Good £ Insinkersator Better ££ Franke Best £££ Quooker Definitely worth doing your homework to see which will work best, and within your budget.

Mains feed, if it is a Quooker fusion, drinking water shouldn't be softened by a full on water softener.

We have a boiling tap - wouldn’t be without it. We were able to afford it when I found that Franke, better known for kitchen sinks, also do boiling taps. Small point but worth making - be careful when installing your boiling tap of choice to ensure easy access to the isolating mechanism on the water pipe(s) so you can turn off the water when you need to replace the filter cartridge. We had to have ours moved when the kind person who helped me change the filter each time was no longer able to do so and it was down to me, who couldn’t reach the lever which had been sited behind the waste disposal machine under the sink.

Grrrr just did a reply and lost it all. It depends on the depth of the worktop as some are 600mm deep and some 650mm deep. It’s all in the planning. Some sinks are supplied with a hole already in and some have no hole so you fit the tap in the worktop. I have the Qettle but mine is boiling water and filtered water so I also have the standard tap too. It’s a different design to yours. Do not pour the boiling water direct into the sink. It’s an absolute no. There have been reports of Blanco sinks splitting because of this. I always put the mug under the boiling water tap before turning it on.

I have a Quooker and use it for filling pans, blanching veg etc as well as drinks. Makes things much quicker.

I considered it, for about a minute, then decided not to get one. I can afford the minute it takes to boil the kettle.

Never considered it again. I definitely wouldnt want to have 2 taps. I believe it takes up a small unit underneath in space.

My sister loves hers. Great for hot drinks, filling saucepans etc. Some do icy cold water too.

We have one. It’s great. But if I had to use a kettle again that would also be OK. The times I think they are most valuable are if your kitchen sink is along way from your hot water supply because you can get a slightly different boiler under the sink and use them for your domestic hot water in the kitchen. Or if you are very near and don’t want a kettle out. Or as a safety feature if you are concerned about a full kettle of boiling water spilling.

Hi Lucy. The kitchen is already in, it’s only the worktops that are being replaced so perhaps not relevant for us.

I’ve made a decision and am going with the Qettle Mini 2 in 1.

Sarah U-S I’d just decided last evening when you were posting 😀. I already have the new taps so want to keep those and having the Qettle will main I can do that as it’s a 2 in 1. I’d also hate the grandkids to turn the wrong one so having 2 different ones will mean I can yell at them to use the one that’s in a specific position.

Just need the worktops to arrive in the country 🙄.

Qettle 2 in 1 Mini on order and a spare filter. Decided on the 4L to be on the safe side. Looking forward to my new gadget.

I had an Insinkerator one fitted 11 years ago and am currently awaiting the delivery of my 5th replacement water tank; first 3 leaked (one so badly that it ruined the cupboard and wood floor) and the last one blew all the electrics - turns out the element has failed. Two of them were still under guarantee but all in all, including a replacement tap too (another leak), it's been an awfully expensive kettle! That said, can't imagine life without one now - although I am currently having to boil a pan on the hob 😅
