Upside down layout

Hello I’d love to get some inspiration on modelling an upside down house. Kitchen living upstairs and bedrooms downstairs. How did you treat the entrance all so that it feel natural to automatically go upstairs when you enter

Hi congrats on impending purchase ! looking at your upside down home - this is what I would suggest - subject to survey to ensure walls can be removed where shown ! I like how the roof has a higher pitch than the aspiration picture shown and I think your instinct to make this an upside down house will take advantage of the vaulted space upstairs. As the house has no front garden you may need to plan the bedrooms carefully to make avoid noise intrusion and ensure privacy when guests use the front door. If you are considering planning the internal layout or any extensions you may want to post a specific question as a Design Dilemma.

I see no reasonable negatives, I’m pretty sure the view’s worth it (unless it’s a rubbish one 😊) and I don’t think it’ll be harder to sell. Athough we have our front door on the living areas’ level, our home is ‘upside down’ with the upstairs being lighter and ‘grander’ with higher ceilings, Traditionally the bedrooms may be upstairs so it’s what people are used to but rationally there is not always a reason for.

Hi, I can’t find any good photos but eyes are naturally drawn to the light. I would (if possible) include a window on the landing. You can then direct the way with either a stair runner, lights, art etc on the stairs or something like a painted handrail or a painted section at dado level.
