Vote for paint colour please

Hello! I desperately want to paint our hall which is a boring white. It is dark in places and quite light in others, it gets west and east light. We will be renovating in a year or two so for now it’s just slapping something up to cheer the place up for the time being, and gives us a bit more of an idea what we would like there long term (hence the cheaper paint brand).

You state you want to make the room look cheerful but have shown a cool palate.
Do you really want cheerful? If so think of some of the colours you find uplifting- for most people they are warms yellows and reds.

I like Winter Teal 3. It looks a little bit like Oval Room Blue by Farrow & Ball and is currently my favourite colour! Does depend on flooring though and what else is in the hall. This is Oval Room Blue

I think a continuation of the white that is on the top part of the house would set of the lovely colour of the windows. Something like sandtex 'cotton belt' or bedec 'old white'. Alternatively, a monocouche render in a light colour would look fantastic too and set of the grey green window colour. On the paint manufacturers website There is a colour scheme for painswick which shows a lovely creamy coloured cill. The timbers are a lovely feature too so perhaps just a freshen up along the lines of the existing colour. Maybe it's time to drive around your area and look at the colourways of the houses that you admire and just be a copy cat 😊 It's a lovely house. Congrats.

We have a winner. Option 2 it is! The house picture is a little old. The difference between what you see below and current state are as follows: - Blinds have all changed to Venetian 50mm Wooden blinds (in white with a light grey tapers) - House number plaque is installed to the right of the door under a anthracite down light to the right of the door. I wish I had chosen a black one now but I may just end up painting it :) Thank you Houzz Community!

Hi Em, Thought I would add our 2 cents and see if its any help. My first thought for your walls is a friendly light grey like Dulux "Silver Ash" or "Lexicon Half". It's warmer than white, but still bright and modern, making it a perfect companion for your kitchen colors. If you fancy something a bit different, how about a soft greige. Dulux "Dieskau" or Taubmans "Ashen Mist" would give your space an inviting warmth, tying beautifully with your off-white worktop and oak floor. Before you make a final decision, paint a small patch on the wall and check it at different times of day, as the lighting can change how a color looks. Enjoy the rest of your renovation journey!

Grey goes with so many colours so it depends very much on what you are drawn to as well. The rule of thumb being match cool greys with other cooler colours such as blue, pale greens and cool white. And match darker grey tones with warm tones such as burnt orange, mustard, and teal. But you can go soft pinks as well which give a lovely warm vibe too and work with sage green accessories. Thank you, it’s for light oak flooring and doors. I meant ‘loved’ when I said more cheerful, and less dull.
