We are looking at a nice house, small garden.

Has a double garage that Intrudes quite a lot into the garden.

Could we put glass window and doors replacing the brick at the back(by the shingle) and side (with the white door) ?

Thinking is it would make the garden feel more open and provide a nice room for kids/family during the summer (I have thoughts of a toy room/bar!! )

If possible how expensive is this type of thing?

I converted three quarters of my double garage into a studio. It cost around 5-6K and this included portioning off the quarter, putting in a drain for a sink, brickwork, 2 new large timber windows, new door, insulation, lighting, plastering, flooring, units and worktops.

Looks great. May I ask if you have any other photos you could share please?
My hope is by doing something with the garage we can make better use of the limited garden space.

Can you extend the garage at the front of the house? if so, the back wall for the garage could move considerably, and you could enter the utility at the bottom of the stairs, giving more width to the living room with light from the back elevation. it would mean a pitched roof to the front of the garage if you don’t want to extend on the first floor.

Hello we as a family are considering having a kitchen extension and want to convert the garage into a living space as I'm a collector of vinyl and would like to make the garage sound proof and free from damp if possible The kitchen extension would extend up too the edge of the decking which is 10.10 ft and 19.5 ft in which is the full length of our semi detached property but other then is that the edge of of the house is in flush with the garage so in this case I'm unsure what the best option to do The saving grace is that under the decking as it stands there is a concrete block from the house to the edge of the decking but where the old stair case is under may need filling in As being a novice too all this does anyone have any tips and ideas on trying to keep the cost down and rather then just agreeing with what ever the builder says and what do about the garage not being in line with house .... thanks

I think it’s a great idea and certainly possible. That garage is huge and looks like a church! You could create a lovely glass entrance hall.
