What can I do with this lounge diner? I have such poor vision!

Would love some colour scheme and furniture ideas for this room. Also thinking about wooden Venetian blinds and a fabric pelmet rather than curtains for both windows. Any ideas?! What about bifold or sliding doors between living and dining room?

I think Venetian blinds and pelmets are very dated. Shutters perhaps if you’re after that sort of style. I think a large rug in the seating area will definite the area more clearly. If you chose something with subtle colour you could bring in sofa cushions in the same colour to tie it together. If you need something to separate can you look into a pocket door perhaps but I think you will need to squash the large sofa up to fit it in, and for the expense I don’t think it will achieve much. Start with a rug and see how it feels.

I would consider buying larger original artworks to add drama and character to the walls. The lettering and glitter print doesn't feel as stylish or considered as the rest of your room does. Love the suggestion of using coral or apricot as an accent colour, will really help take the overall look to the next level. When things are too matchy matchy its easy for a space to start feeling bland and charmless. Otherwise I think it's 90% there!

Hello 81bec, Well you don't need a lot on a sofa.. I tend to group them in 1's or 2's at the ends rather than along... The only place I can go ott is on a bed.. I digress..but I did a count and found I have 17 including 6 pillows! ; ) ) I think you will instantly see an uplift there on the sofa.. Also re the art work... Why not consider making your own? Canvases could be arranged in sizes and configuration you like and painted to blend with the walls they sit on.. Or why not use your colour scheme... Duck egg blue block colour with an old silver edging.. This could be a lovely way to bring the scheme in and not breaking the bank whilst doing it.. : ))

I agree with Minnie. Paint colour last. Try to get swatches of everything and look at them in your home, in different lights (day and night). It's amazing how different colours look in different lights. So what looks like grey in the shop, might look purple in your home. Also, hold the swatches together and hold the swatches in the direction they are going in. For example: carpet horizontal, sofa fabric vertical and horizontal, curtains vertical. Sorry I pressed the wrong key, I would add soft furnishings in your favourite colour I.e cushions, large rug, and maybe a throw, personally I would choose a warm colour, this route is not expensive and easily changed, when you decide yes this is the right colour you can add to it. Do add some plants real or artificial to make it more homely, a large artificial palm would break up the centre of the room. Enjoy yourself.
