50 or 65mm wooden blinds?

I’ve decided on some off white wooden Venetian blinds for a bay window and I prefer the wider slats, but am undecided between 50mm or the extra wide 65mm. I was thinking of the larger as presumed they would let in more light, and I like that they look a bit like shutters, but haven’t actually seen as many around for comparison.... I am now wondering whether the wider slats might actually block more light rather than let more in? Does anyone have any recommendations for one or the other, or experience of which would allow more light into the room please?

Hi did you go with the 65mm slats? I am replacing all of our blinds after we’ve done some building work, currently have 50mm but am considering 65mm to more resemble shutters.

Hi, I initially ordered the 64mm but then got it changed to the 50mm as I preferred the colour... they were a little more off white, whereas the 65mm was more of a bright white. I’m really happy with them and no regrets about going for the narrower slats. I mainly like the nice clean look they give and so happy to finally be rid of the nets, so I’m sure I’d have been equally happy with the others as well.

Hi Nikki, we went with Thomas Sanderson blinds and originally went with the manual version but they didnt work very well so they upgraded our blinds for free to the battery operated version and they are great. Not 'blackout' as advertised but still pretty good. We paid around £4000 I think but if we were to have paid for the battery blinds it would have been £7500. Wish there was a better option but they seemed to be our only choice that would ensure our view was unobstructed and the room was dark. Hope that helps!

thanks all for your input. Update:- - Moved most of the excess pots now except the ivy ones (but put those in smaller dark grey tubs instead so more discreet). - Getting a price for a new window to match the rest - Have been busy jet-washing the back garden & decking down as we are going to look at removing the big old slabs on the corner decking and putting some large slate black stepping stones around to break up all the "cat litter" ;) ha ha. Then paint the decking grey (just started a thread asking for colour advice on these). So the garage.... HELP turns out there is a paint for the uPVC if I can't replace that large monstrosity that is the fascia board, but I need advice on colours please? Really wish I had had a grey door put in now instead of black but that means the garage will have to be a combo of black & white or all black or leave all white. I don't think I can add grey can I if I have white windows and a black door???? what do you all think??

They can be manually or electrically operated, are available in a range of colours, and have Venetian or pleated versions. They can be closed for complete privacy, opened to any angle for different shading or raised up almost completely out of the way. Aside from enclosing all the working parts (safe for toddlers), they enhance the thermal efficiency of the unit they are enclosed within and will never need cleaning! You can upgrade existing doors and windows, although if you are purchasing new, ask your supplier about Uni-blinds Integral Blinds beforehand.

Thank you for replying. I will get some samples. We have 50mm ones now which I love, was wondering if the 64mm ones were a bit thicker. Will see!
