Sink bowl too deep

I'm making over our kitchen and have installed a water softener under the sink. I now have the issue that I only have space for a sink no more that 170mm deep, and we'd like a grey composite or granite sink. I can't move the softener as that the only space for it. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a non steel sink with a bowl less than 170mm deep? They are all 200m or more as far as I can see. Please help!

It may be viable with a standard sink if you remove part of the floor of the cabinet to stand the Softner on the floor -reinforce the rest of the cabinet though !

Unless it’s a stainless steel sink I doubt you’ll get one that deep. They all tend to be on the large size.

This thread makes me smile, my husband and I argued so much about kitchen sinks it resulted in separate bedrooms for a night! We came up with a solution, we bought the blanco silgranite subline sink in pearl grey which has a small step up so you can rinse vegetables in the step but do large dishes in the sink. Most things go in the dishwasher but the things that don’t are often the large items that need a good soak! We have an insinkerator food waste disposal underneath which is useful too.

Thanks all this is very reassuring! Here is a pic of the layout. The wall between the bedroom and the en-suite is going to be stud while The opposite wall with sink against it is a solid outer wall (but we’ve an extension the other side of it now) so that was making me think if I put the shower head on that wall then I’d need to have it built out a bit to accommodate piping Or chased in (?) - so perhaps the more logical option is to have the shower head on the bedroom wall side where it’s stud or from the Far end wall and then Pop a niche in the stud? Wet room would be the dream Sarah but I think too costly for us so hoping we can get a slimline tray not on risers ideally, or if it has to be raised, to make a feature of it by tiling or making a wee flat bit before tray starts.

Sorry, I know this is not what you asked about but I’m not sure why you’d need two parallel sofas and televisions right next to each other. If you laid the furniture out differently in the family space, it might impact on how you designed your windows. By having a large sofa facing away from the kitchen/dining area, it blocks off movement in the space and means that if family members are in the room while you are cooking, they are facing away from you. If you have lots of glass and reflection, you won’t be able to watch tv. You’ve got a lovely snug room right next to this for watching tv. How do you think you will use the space? You might want to keep an eye on the kids while you are cooking but I’m not sure that this layout allows this. I’d maybe think about a two seater and an armchair and a footstool to break it up and allow more movement

Hmm yeah I knew it was freestanding. I was just confused because the depth of the dishwasher unit itself is 550mm, which means if I wanted it to sit flush with an 18mm slab door on the front and a 70mm service gap at the back I would need cabinets alongside it which are 638mm and that doesn't seem like standard at all (I've seen some places do 560/575 etc). So if you buy a standard 575mm deep carcass for the rest of your kitchen, does your "integrated" dishwasher always have to stick out? There is no way to have a 550mm dishwasher sit flush unless you only use a small service gap?

Thanks for the replys so far. We looked at dropping the softener through the cabinet floor, but the softener is too long, and would not go behind the kick board.

Even if you can get a shallow sink it will annoy you forever. I cannot wait to rip out the shallow sink in the property we bought - you can't wash pots and pans easily without splashing water all over the place and down your trousers. Don't know what to suggest if you don't have the space but unless you don't cook, a shallow sink is a nightmare.

Could it work on an angle ?! Diagonally across the cabinet ? You don’t really want to push the plinth out as you’ll get backache if you can’t get close enough to the sink.
