Garden clearance

We have brought a new house and are in the process of clearing the garden. There is a large pond with goldfish, frogs, lily pads and a rockery with huge granite rocks.

Does anyone know if there is a market for this kind of thing? Was just going to post on Facebook but didn’t want to look silly 😕

We had a vastly over engineered Japanese pond with huge granite sets. We sold them on eBay for peanuts - the issue was the many people who were keen but had no way of moving or transporting them. You are better to advertise them as free but with exact details of size and access. A Facebook call out for pond owners to take your fish should work. All garden wildlife should be left in their home, perhaps you could relocate the pond to another area in your garden?

Hi Alant1000, An extractor not only helps to remove odours from cooking but it also makes cleaning the kitchen easier, removing some of the grease that would otherwise settle throughout the room. Extractors do however come in many shapes and sizes, in terms of aesthetics you could opt for a pendant extractor which appears as a pendant light or you could choose a downdraft extractor, which will be hidden within the worktop. I love trees with great Autumn colour and have taken my Acers with me everytime I've moved. This month I've added some Hydrangas since the fading deep pink/red flowers will hopefully look great with the Acers once the leaves get their brilliant colour. However I've never grown Hydrangas before so I'm not sure if the flower colour will be the same next year since it's affected by soil ph. Anyhow, think you've done a fab job and I'm sure it will continue to get better since gardens are never ever finished!

Hi I see this as very interesting situation. Firstly lets establish why do you want to have hob on the peninsula. To be able to chat with sitting people on the other side when cooking? Than why would you put massive extractor between them and you? How much time you will actually spend in the front of the hob and how long during preparation , mixing, cutting etc? I have looked into the design and first thing I have seen is the position of the sink. You have placed sink away from natural light. This is extremely bad choice. Why not shifting it under the window and placing the hob where the sink is on the picture at the moment? You will gain daytime light when using sink and you will have hob away from sitting friends/family members on the peninsula but close enough for cooking same time. Making the peninsula 900 mm wide will give enough surface for sitting and for preparation, bah , you can even make them busy helping you on the other side. I few more issues with wall and base unit sizes/positioning but this is easily sorted when you will have proper kitchen designer involved. I understand you have a dream about having the hob on peninsula but few other pros above making points it is not good idea. You will do whatever you like but I understand the reason to post here was to find professional opinion.

Hi, there is definitely a market. The most important thing is to rehome the fish to someone with a good size pond, best a good home for free than a bad one for money. Don’t worry about the frogs, they usually live in the garden and will find another pond in their own time. The lily you could definitely sell via Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree. If the liner is a plastic moulded one without holes, then you could sell that too.

Have found a home for the fish and they are off to a huge pond. My dad is having the lily and liner. Just need to find a home for rocks and boulders now 👍🏻
