Wallpaper in a kitchen?

Elaine Keep

The previous owner knocked through a small kitchen and dining room to make an open plan area. I feel it was a mistake but am living with it as I can't afford to make structural changes to the kitchen. The room is mostly white/light grey/ pale colours. The effect is rather cold in winter and frankly depressing- low light in winter. I rewired and put in more lights, but am aware that Covid and winter and staying at home a lot, beckon. There is a wall where we eat, well away from the cooker and sink etc . I am thinking of a colourful maybe jazzy wallpaper, which I guess would need to be washable? Any opinions welcome including that I am mad.
