Curtains or blinds?
Comments (3)Stunning place Susana - what about something that sticks to the inside of the windows to diffuse the sunlight, rather than trying to cover them up? I'm no expert, but I think there is something out there........See MoreHELP...I've been looking for the right curtains for almost a year!
Comments (30)Hello Ffion. As it was already mentioned above it is not recommendable to sleep with a window behind your head. Can you upload some more pictures of your bedroom? Just to have an idea how it is organised. I believe there is always solution ;). You can believe or not but your sleeping problems may be caused more by the placement of your bed then street lights. It is all about the energy flow in your room \ Marcin...See Moregarden experts/botanists... help?
Comments (19)Nice work so far, now for the fun stuff- the planting makes or breaks a project like this. A good garden designer will challenge your ideas and explore the alternatives with you to find the right solution so here goes! It's important to remember that you will be looking out at this view from the windows most of the time so THAT's the most important view. You say south facing, I guess the windows are south facing so anything against that brick wall should not filter out more light and block the view unless you want a more intimate feeling in that space. It's vital to consider the purpose of the planting along the brick wall. I'd ask you why you want trees there? The wall is attractive but do you need more screening from your neighbours? One way to add screening is to add a top trellis with cllmbers - you control EXACTLY the height and have no issues with the wall being damaged to the tree becoming too large. The requirements for planting can then be fulfilled by filling the border with structural shrubs and a good variety of shade tolerant perennials. Let us know what you do in the end and have fun with it! - Stephen R...See Morecalling white paint experts
Comments (1)I feel, if you were to choose any white for the walls, my first thought is that there are too many "whites" in the equation, which I'd hazard a guess they will all be very different and if that is the case, at best at least one will look dirty/grey/yellow/cream against the others and at worst it will look like a poor attempt (and failing) at matching. I would be inclined to ditch the idea of bright white or similar and perhaps lean a little towards something with a pinkish tone, because northern light is very blue and can make things feel a lot cooler, even if you do get some good light. You can still get a whitish colour, but I think a pinker hue will compliment the grey, make the white seem brighter and warm up the room. You could still have the bright white on the ceiling, but having a white close the cabinets and worktop may look just wrong....See MoreJen
