Comments (3)Hi Lucy, I had a look in your ideabook too but same as Minnie I felt none-the-wiser, as what you have in there is different to want in the room. What sort of feel or style do you want? I don't know what direction your room faces, or what time of day it was in the picture, but the room seems a little dark in comparison to the dining room through the doorway. I would keep the walls light and neutral - either an off white or a very pale grey with a bit of warmth in it. Add colour in the accessories - cushions, rug, art etc. You mention a new carpet but maybe continue the wood floor you have in the dining room and add a rug (which is where you bring in some colour - love the Stockholm rug in yellow from ikea or loads of choice on wayfair.co.uk). Were you thinking yellow or blue for the wallpaper and what sort of style? Cole & Son cow parsley is gorgeous in yellow (but pricey) and there's a Rob Ryan design that's been turned into wallpaper that comes in yellow that is gorgeous. Your fireplace isn't too bad, I think painting the mantle shelf white and painting the wall a similar colour to the stone will make it blend in. Is it an open fire? Will you have to get chimney sealed off etc?...See MoreFireplace

Comments (7)It's almost identical to the layout of the ground floor in my old house, except my kitchen was accessed from the diner. If keeping the tv, etc, where it is now I would consider removing the fireplace so that you could have a sofa along that wall and then either a second sofa backing onto the window or a chaise sofa and a chair. The other option might be to move the tv to the window corner and have a sofa or l-shape seating backing onto the dining area. Although this option might block the walk through from the hall it would allow you to keep a fireplace as a feature without competing with the tv too much....See MoreLiving room layout
Comments (3)I think you can keep fireplace and put tv on the top of it and put L shape sofa in front of sofa and beside window....See Moresarfu
