Top design features luxury new build
Comments (11)Hi Alimdunk. We may be a little biased but we'd definitely suggest you put a lot of focus on creating a luxury kitchen at the heart of your home. We work on lots of new-build projects and more often than not the kitchen becomes the main socialising space above the living room! If open plan living is to your taste then perhaps a large open plan space that flows from kitchen to dining to living area, all with bi-fold doors that open onto the garden and presumably beautiful country views? Also, a couple of people above suggest a utility room, this is definitely a good idea. Hiding away the washing machine/ tumble dryer etc will make your kitchen space much more attractive and keep the mess and clutter of washing etc. elsewhere. Perhaps you could even have a utility/ boot room - perfect for kicking off the wellies after a countryside walk. We've put some pictures below of some our projects that might help inspire you with your project. Whatever you choose for your new home - best of luck with it all! Comments (36)E D I have a system that's not working at the moment, the previous owner installed a 3 chamber septic tank, the outlet can run into a cistern of about 20 cubic metres, when it's up and running the output from the tank will be used as irrigation for my almond and olive trees. Once it is running I will also be able to plant some citrus too, something I am looking forward to, I like oranges and a mature tree will produce about 500Kg of fruit a year, that's a lot of marmalade. I have to finish the workshop and re-tank the cistern, at the moment the water soaks into the ground. My normal water supply comes from a local well co-operative that I have shares in, the shares came with the house, good water €12/month. I am 3Km from the nearest power lines so I am fully off grid, my panels give me a maximum draw of 8Kwh, I rarely get anywhere near that, the batteries need to be checked once a week in summer for water level, less in winter. As for the grey craze of the last few years? Not a fan, the world needs a bit more colour in it....See MoreNew build kitchen advice
Comments (4)Ivory gloss and a grey floor can be matched with a warmer grey on the walls. It's impossible to give a colour as you'll need to get colour cards and lay them on the flooring. If you're up for a splash of colour then there are all sorts that will go with the ivory and grey. Greens will work, raspberry, mustard, a slate blue, mulberry and the new kid on the block 'blush'...........If you have a peninsula or island you could put black leather bar stools in for something to pick up on the work top, or maybe try and introduce some natural wood to soften the look down a bit....See MoreAlmost there.....final thoughts if you please!
Comments (18)Hi Suzanne, The stairs i had in the drawing were my version of what i thought it would look like before we got formal drawings from the architect (bit of cut and paste of existing plans). I do have an updated version he did i'll post here. However on this plan the bay at the back of the kitchen is too narrow and we haven't got the side windows shown in the kitchen etc. The stairs i had shown have a half landing. Our current stairs have 2 quarter landings. The stairs only go up 1 floor - 15 steps (15th being the landing level). We are also constrained by some eaves so the steps can't come up directly onto the landing by the wall due to head height issues - i have shown this with a red line. Happy to consider any stair variants you mentioned. I will take a look at stairbox.com thank you. The hall is approx 7.5m by 3.5m if you include the utility/coat cupboard area in the overall space. Thanks again for looking at this for us!...See MoreLynn Baba
