Bathroom worktop idea - clear glass layer on tiled worktop?

Hi All, first time on hear. Hope someone can help. I have a 162cm wall which will be filled with a 76.5cm white rectangle basin and an undercounter wall hung toilet. I need worktop idea for the wall please. initial colour option was white and something which is light reflective eg white glass. However i cant seem to find a company that will do it for under £200. So i have decided to use my gold 30cmx60cm tile on my existing oak worktop and finishing with a gold trim to make it tidy. However i want to add clear glass on top of the tiled worktop - is this doable? Has it been done before? Hoping this will make the tiled worktop surface look more clear and easy to clean, etc.

For background, it is roughly a square shaped bathroom. colour scheme as follows:

1. wall 1: black tiles with gold feature tile in main shower area.

2. Wall 2; has a door, painting the remainder of that wall.

3. Wall 3: Plain painted wall with large ornate mirror.

4. Wall 4: help required!! Has basin and wc as described above. AND NEED WORKTOP support.

Floor: Beige floor tile 60cmx60cm with a feature centrepiece.

the worktop i need is 2 pieces:

1. 80cm length x 25cm width

2. 5cm length x 25cm width

They are lovely handles Patrina. I'm having a bit of a handle issue since the holes in the pull handles on the four drawers are 83mm centre to centre and there are not many options with that sizing in brushed brass. I've found a couple of possibilities from china but with the problems there I'm not sure how long they will take to arrive.

Thank you so much, all of you, for your very helpful advice. It's official - I'm going for wood! As well as all your comments, after I got home tonight I (sunflower) oiled all my wooden table and it looked fantastic, so warm & rich in colour. It was the first thing the hubby noticed when he walked through the door so that tells you something! And I thought that if I can just remember to do this every 6 monthly with the worktops then it really will look fabulous. And that's very interesting about what's happened to your laminate edges Chalkandbell, oh and the tip about wiping the edges dry after use. This advice is exactly what I was after - the kitchen companies will always say it's minimal upkeep but I really needed to hear from those who actually work with it every day. Thank you all. Hi the floor tiles we are using are from tops tiles , I can't see them on their website but they have them in their shop . They are dark grey/ black 30x60 and are Matt but in certain lights have a very tiny sparkle . Not the ones with big sparkly bits and that are shiny . If I go in again I will find out the name . Your sink is lovely also . I just like ours as it has a Matt finish with a limestone look even though it's white .

Hi Rowen, I can't quite identify the knobs/handles in Claire's images (and there are quite a few others in this thread!), but we may be able to help source what you are looking for. We have a variety of hadle suppliers, but one of our favourite for "cup & knob" in a variety of lovely finishes is Crofts & Assinder - crofts.co.uk - a really great, British company with some lovely designs and finishes. Have a browse of the website and see if any are close to what you seek. If you give me an idea of which is the style you particularly like, happy to try and help. It`d be more understandable if you could attach a photo of what it might look like approximately, just not very clear what you mean. I think with such a question you should contact directly to the company, which will do it, but I can tell you something about the countertop. I advise you to choose quartz, as this material is the most durable, it has a great glossy sheen, as you want, it`s resistant to moisture, and since it will be in the bathroom - this is the most important criterion. I have quartz countertops too, bought here Quartz Kitchen Worktops Hull so I know all the benefits of this material firsthand.
