Some questions regarding the island lighting arrangements please.

I notice there are both pendants and ceiling downlights for the kitchen island. I have been pondering this for my own kitchen, to ensure adequate light on the island. How well does the arrangement shown work please? Do you get shadowing on the island when using the ceiling downlights due to the pendants blocking some of the light? Really lovely kitchen, great work.
