Navy blue walls in bedroom

Decided to go for navy blue walls in master bedroom. One wall will be taken up by dove grey fitted wardrobes. Bedside tables etc. are in white. I'm stuck on curtains and flooring, what colour curtains and carpet/flooring would make the room complete?

I would have navy curtains too. If you want something lighter then pale grey looks good with navy.

We have navy walls, white fitted wardrobes and walnut type furniture. We’ve gone for pale grey curtains and used an extra pair to make a matching headboard

That color is a coral shade. I would think that I would probably not paint all walls that color but rather keep the wall color white. Benjamin Moore has a decorator white that would be nice for the wall color. Then I would use that coral color that you like so much and add navy with it. Keep the bedding off white or white and add pillows in the coral You could have an area rug in coral and coral accessories in the room. Drapes in navy for contrast. See inspiration pics. There's a lot of terracotta/rusty colours around now which would warm up grey and navy and kind of act in place of wood furniture in your case. If you are sticking with the white furniture you could change the knobs for a warm metal, and add a warm metal picture frame and mirror. Perhaps you could find some natural basket or wood trays to sit on top of the bedside cabinets. You could also buy or make a fabric headboard cover to take out that big slab of white headboard. Are dark blue walls too dark for a dark bedroom with minimal light?

If you’re looking for dark blues, look at Craig and Rose’s Payne’s Grey. Despite the name it is actually the most beautiful shade of deep blue with a hint of grey. I spent months agonising over blues but then got fed up in lockdown and got the Payne’s Grey, despite worrying that it would be too grey for such a dark corner. it is the perfect colour, and I’m looking forward to using it on walls elsewhere. It’s also usually cheaper than F&B and similar if not better quality.

Thanks for the advice guys. Our headboard is also grey so matching curtains could link well. What do you guys have for flooring?

I think a wooden floor would look fab with the navy, but I do like a bedroom to be warm and cosy so I chose a taupe carpet to tie in with the taupe fitted wardrobes. For you I would choose a pale grey carpet.

I agree with Sonia that carpet is more cosy, but wood would look nice. We have a mid grey carpet

Hi Jez,

I am an interior designer and will suggest navy curtains -raw silk, maybe wood floor - dark brown matter finish or white wood floor. You could also grey dove all walls and have navy soft-furnishings like duvets etc. I hope this helps.
