Rope garden furniture maintenace

I am thinking of buying some Outdoor garden furniture made with marine rope, has anyone had any experience with it in winter. I need to know if its caught in the rain does it hold on to the moisture for a prolonged time? I havent bought it before and just wondered about the pros & cons. Can anyone be of assistance?

I think it depends what the rope is made of. If it’s real cotton or flax I don’t think it would fare well, but if it’s plastic to look like rope (rather like faux wicker) then it may have a longer life. I’d love to see a pic as I’ve never heard of rope furniture!

Hi Carolins, as requested I took a couple of pictures of the garden last night. Its one hell of a mess, I'm very very much looking forward to getting it looking nice. Would be so lovely to sit out in the sun with a glass of wine (presuming we get any more sun lol). There's 2 pictures with 2 images I've combined, one which shows the view up the garden (towards the garage) and one which shows the patio and scruffy shed. The other two images show the view from by the car (the garage is on the left) and the other shows the view from what will be the patio by the garage (there's a red Poppy in the image). Might be ok on the path through the lawn to the raised beds then. I suppose I can always add something later if need be. Wouldn't have thought I'd go over more than once or twice a day to be honest (bit difficult seeing as I'm out 12 hours most days). Still playing around with the pergola idea you suggested. Quite like the look of it, just a tad concerned it may block some of the light into the dining room (which is already quite dark). The other thing I'm not sure of yet is having the pergola there if we fence the patio off as a dog run. I'd previously though of basically fencing across the entire patio. May not though, I quite liked your initial idea for the dog run. I think that other than a few tweeks to the design (mostly to add things like compost heaps lol) I'm quite happy with what I've got. So thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it. It really helps to talk ideas through with someone.

Thanks Kate. I was very against having the kitchen leading into the bathroom. Unifying the living/dining/kitchen meant we could overlap the spaces and also gain on better sight lines. Loosing the chimney wasnt overly expensive but what you gain on floorspace made up for it. Dont forget you also gain space in the rear bedroom so furniture is easier to place up their too. The central wall was a spine wall so we put in a steel envelope. We also supported the chimney in the roof space, again with steels. All building control approved. There is no door on the stairs - i also glazed the spindles to allow light through and ran up a stair-rope, giving the coastal feel. Attaching some more pics/plans. The cottage is still snug. Does it need to go across the corner or would you be better off having the wall as the back drop and using re-claimed timbers to be a frame with a nice pitched roof? I like the roof on this one:- I don't like the reeds.You could also use the same slates as are on the roofs around ! - something more like this. By not cutting the corner, you make the area look larger. Cedar Shingles are also nice, they silver with age, but look old fashioned. If you put a Wrought iron table and chairs underneath, as they look less chunky you also make the area seem larger. We have these:- but you can get smaller, lighter looking sets:- The biggest arbour we have at home ( 1850's cottage ) has carved uprights, courtesy of the wife - very creative, bless her. We used two beams bolted together to make them chunky and then she carved 'rope' in to them ( excuse the mess - our son is re-building a classic E30. )

Hiya! Ah it’s still chucking me out every time I reach your window shutters post, too ridiculous!
