Awkward shape & dark living room. need help please
Comments (13)You have some really good advice from everyone. If you can remove the wallpaper I would paint in Colortrend Goya, it is a green/beige colour that would suit the sofas and compliment your floor. This colour will be warm for your north facing room. A large rug would really lift the room as suggested above. I would recommend the Adum rug from IKEA in 200cm x 300cm. Again as above you need to sort the lighting, I agree with the 5 arm pendants (the spots are very harsh when you are relaxing watching tv). The light should not hang more than 50cm from the ceiling, try the Barcelona 5 light from NEXT, the shades will keep the bulbs from annoying you when relaxing. I would also stretch your curtain pole if it is extendable or replace it so your curtains (which are lovely) sit back further on the wall to let more light in. I would also replace your tv stand and table with a nicer piece and put it centred on the wall (you can angle the tv when people are sitting on both sofas). I suggest Besta Hanvicken White, the white is nice and light in the space and it measures 180cm in width. Add a chair to the corner where the tv is currently to hide the radiator and make the room more beautiful. Try IKEA Strandmon in green or dark grey. Some new cushions will really bring it together, try Voyage Maison from Harvey Normans. For the mirror above the sofa as a great suggestion above try the rectangular Songe mirror from IKEA. Best of luck and post your after photos!!!...See MoreL-Shaped Living Room
Comments (0)I've a project ..an L-shaped lounge (to be precise) I'm trying to design but struggling. Please I need your expert interior design idea. Any advise? I have shared the images below of the layout and what the room looks like. This is my new house in a few weeks. The lounge is a family room. The outcome I envision is a minimal themed living room. In other words a modern living room that manages to be light and minimalist and cosy. Other words that come to mind are elegant, sophisticated and character. Yes it will be a family room, however, it will also be functional in terms of hosting guests. I've thought about changing the colours on the wall yet. I like the idea of a neutral living room therefore the colours on the wall may change. I did hint above on light. When I say light, I'm suggesting lighting as opposed to light colours. Just to mention the living room already has abundance of this....See MorePlease could you help me design this quirky, L-shaped shower room?
Comments (6)Hi Lisa oh my word thank you! I have just measured the other bathroom which has a sink in front of the window but the ledge is much higher and I have a splashback so it helps with the splashes. I have just measured this one and it is just 86cm to the window ledge and my other basin is 84cm high so thank goodness you asked the question!!! I guess it now means I have to put sink next to shower but it will be a squeeze and the frustrating thing is it means I will have a large gap the basin to the toilet where the window is as obviously not replacing the bidet! Also I think it means I will have to keep the existing boxing for the toilet piping. Do you think there is anything creative I could do to improve this? Again big thanks!...See MoreIdeas for L-shaped living area
Comments (0)Hi all, we have a L-shaped living area that we would like to modernize. We are thinking of yellow and grey at the lounge and using geometric patterns at the dining area. We like urban modern designs and we bought 2 wall papers with similar patterns but 2 different colours to paper 2 walls. Not sure if they should be the 2 opposite walls (TV and dining wall) or the TV wall in yellow and the console wall in grey wall paper. Please let us know your thoughts or ideas! Thanks...See MoreSonia
