F&B Duck Green in lounge... how much to paint??
Hello Houzzers, I've not asked any questions on here before but have looked through discussions and you guys have lots of good advice... please could you help in my dilema? We had an extension and a load of work done about a year ago and then just painted everywhere white and moved back in, and we are gradually adding in some colour. Our lounge/ diner is very open plan and light and it definitely needs some drama! We have tried one paint colour and totally fallen for it... F&B's new Duck Green. The idea is to paint the whole end wall behind the stove in this colour, which extends to the playroom area for the kids on the far left (at the front of the house). The floor throughout is a grey marbleish effect. Excuse the mess in the photos, we have had tradesmen in shifting stuff out their way, but here are my questions for the experts:
- do we paint the skirtings or leave them white?
- do we paint the window reveals or leave them white?
- and what about the windowsill?
- and the plaster lights?

Has anyone used F&B Tallow in a north facing room?
Comments (22)We used Tallow in our previous house in a bedroom, it was a north-east facing room. To me, it looked a bit too much like magnolia, maybe because of the strong purple accent wall. Funnily enough, we are friends with the people who bought the house from us 4 years ago; about 2 months ago they called to say they had some minor repair done to the bedroom and asked if we remember what paint we used, as they love it and don't want to change it.... (I am pathetic like that, I do remember what paint colour we used in every room we decorated in the last 7 years or so....) The only photos I have were taken when we moved out... Comments (13)I've never been a fan of dark walls, but I do think they can look stunning. However I have changed my mind now.! We sold my late mum's house last year - it was decorated to rent out in the usual cream walls, oak floor and beige neutral carpet. We noticed it was up for rent again (owner going abroad to work for a while) so ideal opportunity to have a nose online! Wow they had totally redecorated it in a mid century style. Walls were a mix of white and very dark grey throughout with trendy 60's style artwork. The main bedroom was stunning in dark grey walls and white bedding. It's not something I would have ever done, or even had the imagination to do, yet it looks fabulous. Comments (115)Hello! It’s arrived but is being fitted Monday :0) The colour wasn’t quite what I wanted as although it’s not supposed to have any blue in it, if can look blue in some lights. I don’t mind it looking deep navy but sometimes it looks lighter. Will see when it’s all up though as with the worktop on the island and overhang, it will probably just look more black! Bear in mind the company didn’t use actually F&B paints as they mix their own. Definately advises paying for a test door first as they got the colour totally wrong at first (was bright blue!) and it was hard work getting the manufacturers to check it and do it again.
