3 years agoI live in a small apartment and can totally relate to the storage problem. I have used under bed plastic boxes and all kinds of boxes that tuck into furniture and are stackable. I got mine from Wilkos/Ikea.

3 years agoI live in a small house and storage is an issue. One recent storage addition is a storage footstool, so it’s a footstool, coffee table and storage box all in one. It’s amazing how much storage it holds. Wardrobes is an obvious one - buy secondhand from Gumtree or via local Facebook selling sites. Although I have fitted wardrobes, they’re still not enough (so much cr*p!) so I have slim plastic storage boxes under my bed with clean bedding, batteries, bulbs etc in them. The boxes were from Home Bargains but B&M and Wilkos sell them. If she has room for a sideboard, it’s amazing how much you can get in one of those. Don’t forget tv cabinets with doors can also store lots. Here’s my empty footstool, before I filled it!

The fireplace is a little unusual in that the picture you see with the lantern is the section next to the actual fire, but is part of the surround, i think there is one on the other side too - your comments are all taken on board and we will act upon them this weekend - particularly the rug ones. Hi Minnie, like AJ Interiors I have read through some of your other posts so thanks for replying to this one, all noted, like the coffee table under the light idea. Seniordiva- also thanks very much for your comments, you are spot on. They are definately getting wooden floor just a case of when. Also, we had a slightly similar problem - we used to live in a 5-bed house but as we don't like cooking or entertaining in the kitchen, we only put a lovely, small separate kitchen (the size you'd find in a 2-bed flat). That did put families off. However, we got several offers from people without children. It went for over the asking price within a week. I think it might be a similar for you. Comments (7)Personally, if you already have a nice shower in the house, I would probably leave it as is - with a full length bath. Moving the toilet will be a bit challenging because of the location of the soil pipe. You could choose a more interesting bath (eg one with a curved end corner) and could significantly update the look and feel. Depends what you want to achieve though, I don’t think you’ll be upset if you do what you propose (do check the soil pipe from the toilet can route though). Would also have some advantages for a bath screen. One final thing to consider - could you fit in a Square bath? Comments (16)yes I like the jungle idea possibly, though not sure if should keep with ivy as it matches whats currently there.. , not sure about the shelves or seating by the TV though. In the room next door there is an an 8 seater table, and a kitchen island, so its not as though this is the only place to have seating I guess. I like the ideas of natural look, almost Japanese, bamboo, bringing the garden in, just having difficulty with which wall colours, what to do with the post? keep white or make a colourful feature of it, and also what colour sofa bed, rug, paint on the walls to make everything blend in. It's so difficult, can't go for a lightish sofa, as it would just get too dirty, but I'm open to all ideas and very very much appreciate both yours and Rukmini's I have no idea how to put a room pic together like that so it helps massively. They have a lot of friends round, so a comfy rug /beanbags are also great, as long as we can also put them somewhere away too, so they're not in the way...See MoreSharon

3 years agoWould something like these work? Some additional rail on the upper and lower for safety? Am thinking the stairs are better than the ladder for a 3 yr old.
