White or Grey Windows on Extension??
Hi All - we're in the process of replacing a conservatory on the rear of our house with a new flat roof style garden room. Myself and my wife can't decide whether to go with white doors and windows in the new room to match the rest of the house or go with grey as a contrast.
I've had a couple of mockups made up on SketchUp. What do people think - white or grey??

Yes that's very true as we're one of the only houses with the original 80s windows still, so people won't pay out just for a different colour if there windows are still okay. We really love grey, I am just worried it'll look out of place or not as good as I'd be hoping. I may have found the solution... I've been googling today & noticed slim profile UPVC windows exist (Aluminium is out of our budget). As one thing that put me off UPVC grey Windows was that the frame seams more obvious than white somehow & I don't like the thick,chunky frame of some UPVC Windows so that maybe an option. And you are right - it is a very similar look house, and I agree that the paler grey suits the stone better. So thank you - I am very grateful for this image. Comments (12)As others have said - please don’t render! The bricks are lovely. I also think the windows need to be replaced with sash. However, if this is really out of the budget (and we all have to be realistic - they are expensive), then please try to get white windows with thin frames and make sure the position of the openers are in keeping with sash. The current windows just don’t look right because the proportions are wrong - you wouldn’t have small openers at the top of the window - it would be more central....See MoreGrey or white fascias/gutters and details for our rear extension?
Comments (13)Couldn’t afford stainless steel guttering and down pipes so settled for anthracite to match the windows and painted soffits etc to match. It cost a little bit more than black but we’re really pleased with the look of it....See MoreSteve Kelly

3 years agono immediate plans to update windows also the eves are all white so converting to grey a big job
so sticking with white - now has anyone got any suggestions on selecting internal wall colours - see the attached mockups
