Colour matching

Hi everyone, I need advice with paint, please. I have been using Farrow & Ball estate emulsion for years as I like the chalky finish and the depth of colour (even with the very pale ones). However, our staircase is painted in String modern emulsion as it's wipeable. I'd like to replace this colour with Pointing, but I'm not a big fan of sheen and wanted to use matt finish which is wipeable (I know Layland offer this option).

Has anyone successfully colour matched Pointing in another brand's base? Or, which other brand's shade is closest to Pointing? I checked on E-Paint and it says Dulux Subtle Ivory 4 is virtually indistinguishable from Pointing. Any thoughts? Many thanks.

Pointing has a touch of red in it and Subtle Ivory reads as more cream. I think Johnsons colour match the most accurately. Others may know for sure.

Here are a couple of nearish matches in Benjamin Moore. Compare the similarities and differences via their attributes.

Alternatively via e-paint, their nearest match to Pointing is this NCS colour, which is Johnstone’s colour system.

Little Greene all the way. F&B, Dulux, Crown etc are impossible to touch up - it always shows. Little Greene colours don't fade so although around the same price as F@B, it's more economical in the long run because you can touch up small areas invisibly and not have to re-paint the whole wall.

For a bright modern kitchen I think a wooden floor, or wood effect porcelain, will go beautifully. Porcelain is quite cold underfoot so you may consider under floor heating. Worktop I would keep it simple with maybe a white quartz with some veining. You could continue the worktop up as a splashback with an upstand all round. This will give a clean look, but if you want tiles then don’t need an upstand. There are so many gorgeous tiles about so it’s worth having a search online. Here’s some ideas.

I have done many colour matches for F&B using Johnstones paint and it has turned out very well. The only one that didn’t match good enougn for me was the Dulux Tranquil Dawn and I ended up buying the Dulux. Off the top of my head I have done around 6 colour matches that were excellent with Johnstones. Plus their paint is excellent. Recently used Valspar and won’t use it again. Was very disappointed with it.
