Mahogany flooring dilemma???

Helena D

I am renovating the hallway of my early Victorian house.

It has a lovely mahogany banister, I thought it would be great to go for a floor to match. However mahogany is obviously difficult to obtain and I am worried about the ethics of buying a tropical hardwood. I have been searching for alternative options instead but struggling to find something I think would work.

I have considered Luxury vinyl, engineered, hardwood or tiles. Def don't want carpet.

It has a stained glass window on the half landing in red and blue and all the original features. I am moving the radiator pictured to a different place and replacing with a taller cast iron one in dark gold.

I was thinking of going for William Morris Snakeshead in indigo on the walls as I love it and a pale carpet on the stairs either blue or beige. But am open to any suggestions.

So ideas please!!!
