Paint colour for living room

Hi, we are putting a silvery/grey carpet into the living room (shown in one of the photos). The walls need a freshen up of paint but I'm unsure whether to stay with the same colour or to try a different colour. Can anyone suggest a colour which would look good. I am planning on changing the sofa at some point within the next year and also will change the curtains if necessary to go with a new wall colour.
