Cad packages interior design

Hi! Does anyone have any recommendations for a good interior design cad package. Would need it to have good graphics for all rooms but must have good kitchen software. Thanks!!

For professional use ? Expect to pay in the region of £3-5k for good software with approx £2k on hardware to run it - with a monthly update subscription fir the software too.

I did set up account on Qtect, I am not sure the service offering at QTect provides the adequate level of interactivity for me to submit a detailed design brief. Good sales pitch though, but I am not sure I would be able to set and convey my expectations however the propective designers budgetary need is already baselined right from the onset, which equates to a one way street, what if the 3 options (from all the designer proposals) are all rubbish, I am not sure it is a good idea to commit to paying for work that does not involve focused consultation.

ksgrant . . . . . I was on a very tight budget, but knew I was going to hit a wall and need a designer consult. I had space plan drawings for my kitchen and used the design services (free w/ cabinet purchase, CAD) to complete the space. I also had very specific inspiration photos that reflected the same perspective as the space, i.e. window placement over sink (light), position of appliances, prep sink. I paid close attention to how I intended to use the space, needed prep space for a least three cooks. I read a lot about the "triangle". Mostly I spent a lot of time with the plans and considering materials in relation to the inspiration photos. For instance, I wanted soapstone but it was out of budget and went with honed black granite to get the same look. Another example is that I wanted the kitchen to have some of the same elements as the old one to reflect the period of the house, so I had venting added to cabinet piece in front of the sink. That good software design is great, I asked a company to develop something similar for me and it stayed similar but I had more options in the menu for interior modeling thanks to these dedicated development team that helped me finish the project.

I use AutoCAD 2D for plans and elevations but as Oneplan says that is expensive. I have a colleague who uses a free software called Inkscape. You can create DWG drawing files on it once you have set up A3 etc template files then export out to PDF for emailing etc. Possibly you can still get Sketchup and use it for 30 days to get some 3D visuals done for quotes etc. Otherwise ask some students as they can usually get their hands on software but don't ask any questions!

SketchUp is the way to go. There's a free version, but the paid one is reasonably priced at a few hundred I seem to remember. It's intuitive to learn and there are loads of you tube videos. There is also a massive 3D warehouse, where you can download models of pretty much anything you need for interior design, for free. I use it for my clients and they love it ! www.sketchup.com
