monstera plant dilema

Hi all. I have a monstera plant which I love but I cannot seem to get to grow and flourish like other ones I have seen. And the pot is plenty big from what I know. Also the plant keeps growing sideways. I have place on my balcony where there might be an hour of direct sunlight in the early hours of the day but for the most part indirect sunlight funny enough the plant keeps growing towards the wall away from the sunlight. Any advice?

Swiss Cheese Plants are climbers, so will need a support pole. Is the plant in just a pot, or is it in a pot within a pot? Reason I ask is that house plants need drainage and if it’s planted straight into soil in a pot it will sit in water which will not be good. I don’t know how long you’ve had it, but it looks like it needs repotting. Put it into a pot with drainage holes just an inch or so wider than the current pot, using fresh compost. That will pep it up a treat. Also it prefers some shade, doesn’t mind bright light but not good in full sun - it’s a tropical forest plant.

I think the biggest problem is the room size.... which is great, but you're trying to use sectional sofas and split them up, when they would be better left bolted back together and then adding in more furniture. You can see the clips where they should be pushed up together and they're too spread out. The rug is too small for the room and zaps the light out. Go for a larger rug in a brighter colour and add in cushions and soft furnishings to match. With regards the T.V area. The t.v would be better wall mounted and in the middle of the alcove. Possibly you could get someone in to make you an extra niche at the bottom of the t.v in which to hide the wires and other boxes so that it's tidier. Move all the family pics to one wall and put some colourful ornaments out to match the rug and cushions. Add in some more seating if you need it once the others have been bolted back together. Move the Water Cooler or disguise it behind a Palm !

Hi, I’m not an expert, but it could be burn from direct sunlight (or harsh sunlight through a window) or could be because the air is too dry. Monstera’s are forest plants and grow up trees in their natural habitat so prefer a slightly diffuse rather than direct light. Also try misting to give them some humidity.

Hi, Thank you for the photos, now I have a better understanding of the whole area. Yes, the sofa looks better after turning it around, but if you`re planning to buy a new one (or loveseats), it would be better to think about some modular sofas. They are easy to move in a space and you can match different sizes and colours as well. What do you mean with the option “c) separate the nook area with 3 white wood panels hanging from the beam”? Sorry, but it was clear to me. Regarding the TV nook I was thinking about the option to leave the TV and the cabinet where they are and use the walkthrough path between the column and the half wall as a storage place (see photo). You can place there a shelving system, which can be used from the dining area as well. You mentioned that you don`t like bumping into the sofa after entering the room. What about to create a small hallway and use some room dividers to make it cosy entrance, where you can sit down to take off your shoes and leave the keys and bags on a side table? The room divider should be something massive (wood or metal), but also something transparent to avoid creating dark corners. The playing nook can be placed in the corner next to the seating area (adding extra lounge chair optionally) and the home office on the other side of the dining area .
