Understairs utility cupboard

Can anyone help me design a practical utility cupboard for under the stairs at my holiday rental property?

I've seen a picture here:

And need something similar, but with the washing machine and dryer on the floor, then space above for household cleaning products and washing powder etc. And a separate cupboard for the vacuum cleaner/mop. Doesn't need to have a laundry basket as it is a holiday rental with mixed parties.

I can provide measurements and photos of the space.

That sounds great. Can you give me an idea of cost please and how quickly could you put something together? (As always, we need it yesterday!)

Also, will a good carpenter be able to follow your designs?

Can I ask if the utility is going to replace the pantry or will it be dual use? Also, will you have a tumble dryer in there? I only ask as the purpose of a pantry is to keep things cool, but a tumble dryer kicks out a hell of a lot of heat into a confined space. We do have a ventilation fan in our laundry room so I presume that is what Building regs required in 2015 when built. I also open the window when I run the dryer, so I think you will at least need a fan.

That looks fab. My sister had her understairs re-done recently by a carpenter and she is over the moon. This isn’t her hall, but it’s practically the same as she had built. The taller door houses the meters, and the pull outs store all sorts. Very clever people, carpenters!

Good Morning Rhian, The tumble dryer can be placed on top of the washer to save space and make the room feel larger. Manufacturers provide fixing kits for this, some even come with a pull out shelf. When we go through the design process here at Ellen Utley Interiors, we spend quite some time sketching out all of the possibilities and then narrow this down for you. Beforehand, it is worth asking pertinent questions to really understand what the priorities are in the room. You may wish to have a separate shower or a shower over the bath. You might like the idea of plenty of storage in the form of shelves within the laundry cupboard, as shown with the below idea by Jonathan. Whilst narrowing down the options, I recommend considering whenever possible that the toilet is not on view as you walk in the door, that the space is balanced, practical for accessing facilities and what makes the space feel larger and open. If you are having a bath, the view whilst sitting in the bath. The next step is lighting and ensuring that the light is right for bedtime calm as well as morning wake up. Once again we go through the sketching process thinking of all of the possibilities and narrow it down. This is an exciting project, thank you for sharing. Here is an inspiring image showing how floating units can optimise the feel of space and how a view without a toiler is best. I can tell you that we have the washing machine upstairs and it works a treat, laundry goes straight in from the dressing room and there is far less travel plus the downstairs now contains extra storage space! Thanks for your comments, just wanted to make sure our proposed layout wasn't too impractical before going back to architect to suggest it. Jen - thanks, I'd missed the door hanging as that's how it currently is but architect has suggested changing to other side as you suggest. OnePlan - we were debating between us whether to have hob or sink on the island and thought having hob would be the less messy option, but I see your point about seating behind hob, especially as we have a 1 year old so want to make things as child friendly as possible so will rethink this. We did consider having shower room where utility is but want to retain access from front to garden via garage as we don't have external access. Picasso - thanks will consider whether have it as a wet room instead, we plan to have underfloor heating anyway so hope that might help drying the floors.
