living room inspo please

hi guys.
I will be moving into a new home soon and this is the current living room. I was hoping for some ideas...
I'm looking for some neutral colours with either a corner sofa or a 2 & 3 seater.
I was hoping you guys would give your opinions on what you would do?
Also I LOVE wall panelling but the walls are curved.. could I still do that?

Hi, this room has so much potential! You absolutely could have wall panelling along the currently stripy wall - it would work well to add depth and interest. A corner sofa would work in the same place they currently have one but I'd recommend an accent chair that allows you to see through into the rest of the space - can you see this view is currently blocked? What kind of neutrals do you like? Cool colours, warmer tones? Do you know which way the room faces as this will impact on how colours sit in here.

Amy most of us have that problem. Our tastes change but we can't afford to throw everything out and start again. We adapt and compromise. Somewhere along the way we get a look that we are happy with and that is individual to us. If you search for grey, oak and glass on Houzz you will see some pics that might reassure you. At the end of the day you can always paint the tables white, although if they are new and quite expensive you probably won't want to do that, understandably. If you are like me me you get hooked on an idea and then can't stop thinking about how to achieve it! I am currently in process of changing my cushions to try and achieve a particular look without spending a fortune. I know this is just the start of something bigger :)

I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! You need to make a decision. Do you want the fabric to bring colour and pattern to your room or do you want to keep the whole room neutral? If you want pattern, the next decision is what style- check or plaid, stripe, floral or geometric? Then what colour(s). The room, as you point out, is not overly bright, but do you use this room much during the day or is it an evening room? You could opt for deep, rich colour that warms the room at night like burgundy, deep turquoise or terracotta. Adding patterned cushions with similar colours will splash colour around the room. Also, I'd replace the Roman blinds with matching fabric to the curtains, otherwise that will will lack colour. You could make a single curtain for each of those smaller windows in your main fabric and pull it to the side furthest from the fireplace, tied back. As to style, since you don't appear to be overlooked, floor length curtains on the front window and patio doors can be on a 50mm pole extending at least 150mm plus finials each of the windows. To stack them further back extend the pole more, but take care not to have wall showing just before the window recess. Tieing them back would allow more light to come in. If you choose a multi coloured pattern, later changes to your lounge will not necessarily mean that you need to change the curtains. It’s a lovely cloakroom actually, a perfect base. Now what we suggest is to paint the walls in a colour you like, put up some ART in elaborate frames and maybe spraypaint the floor tiles with the help of some pattern stencils you can get on etsy. It will be a total transformation and the result will be amazing-and the best part it won’t cost a fortune ;)

yes I understand what you mean with the sofa blocking the room! I like warm tones more.. I like the idea of a creamy colour or a greige with some bits of black splashes in.. just to spice the beige up a bit! im not sure about the lighting im afraid 🙈 I'll try and send some inspo photos to you (sorry im not very good at this ha) I don't own any of these photos just some I've come across on Instagram!

Gorgeous inspo pics! I feel like I recommend this colour a lot but it's because I'm totally in love with it myself. Farrow & ball Cornforth white is a warm light grey (looks almost white going on but is definitely grey). This is my room in Cornforth white (it is a west facing room). Drop Cloth is also a light greigey colour or lighter still is slipper satin. depending on your budget,you can colour match these shades. These colours will give you lots of flexibility with accessories and furniture (black accents will look great). if you're after a more detailed step by step approach I offer an online design service in which I provide scaled layouts, design and a click through shopping list. otherwise I hope this is a useful starting point for you! You've got a big space with so much potential!
