Yes please. that would be really helpful. I need to replace 2 x worktops both approx. 172 so either a larger 4m piece of 2 x 2m am guessing? Why are all the beautiful kitchens in Germany?! Thanks again. Michelle

Tracey, those are encaustics which tend to be 18-20mm in depth, your wood will most likely be engineered ply if you have underfloor heating and depths vary 12mm upward. If one or the other substrate needs to be built up to accommodate the other that is possible. Be aware there will be some movement between the two, more so if you are using long boards, less with parquet, so consider how best to deal with any movement or expansion between the two. There are plenty of products available for this. Make sure your encaustics are sealed correctly. You could also find the cleaning regimen of the two finishes may be very different. Lithoflin for encaustics - and oil/wax for an oiled floor, that's not a great combination, so perhaps an easy maintenance wood might be better in the long run.

Hi Claire, Do the doors actually open inwards into the room? How about considering place the bed in the center of the room facing the doors? You would disguise the back of the bed with a thin console table which have some dressing style storage (jewelry etc) and can hold some tall flowers and candles to set the mood on entering. There's lots of ways you can add the luxury feel you are looking but this would create real impact and make the bed the real feature of the space. If budget allows I would hang lights from the ceiling ad beside lights and layer up on dressing for an even more luxurious feel. I have attached one of my clients bedroom design (single room re-design package) to show you the hanging lighting idea - if this isn't possible then a well placed small chandelier style light would have a great effect on the space. Most worktop suppliers will provide customers with a free sample of worktop providing you don't ask for lots. You can get their information on their websites to request this. In our workshop we have samples of Axiom, Prima, Odyssey, Duropal, Egger and own brands. We are Staffordshire based. Out of all of the above Duropal and Egger are the most boring. There is nothing eye catching in any of their worktops. Prima and Axiom have added some new designs to their ranges but it all depends on whether you want to play safe or dare to be different.

Can anyone advise me on water features for this rockery please?

Hi Carolina thanks so much for taking the time to advise. I like the look of the water running down the hill but wonder if that might work better in a different setting. The side sections of the rockery are very close to the main living room patio. i really like the idea of the water running down from the top but I wonder it might be too much of a tight squeeze for the pond part as the lawn is very narrow above it and to the retaining wall, such a skinny strip to play with. It is so frustrating! Or did you mean putting the pond part on the bottom section? Sorry! I suppose this is another option but nowhere near as attractive as your suggestions but if the pond isn't an option on the middle section, what do you think about something like this wall hung in centre of bottom wall?

Hi Michelle. One benefit of the German worktops is they are made to size. i have looked at the plan and 2 x 600mm x 2000mm worktops would be best to meet your plan and also allow for cuts and joining. Another benefit of the German laminates is they have a thicker material which creates a more realistic looking wooden worktop look and they will come pre edged from the factory so you will not need a stick on edge at the end of the sink run.
