Im not sure if we can do the extra corner bit for number five, but I do like the layout, it will depend on cost, also don't need two tv areas, as we have a front lounge in the house anyway. the office was supposed to be a mixed use room, as a playroom with kids storage and also an occasional bedroom, so sofa bed In there. I know many people have hobs and sinks on islands, but I just think i'll end up dumping things on there.. I have four in the family, two adults, two kids, but we have a lot of people round for entertaining and parties, so space is what I'm after, but was also looking for somewhere the kids can go out of the way from adults if need be. As for kitchen, the reason for having large larder is to put not only food/drink spare fridge in there, but also things we don't use all that often in the kitchen, equipment etc.. I like everything clean and hidden away. The office on number 5 would be separate anyway as this concept includes sliding doors, which fold into the wall, so only entrance would be from outside, not sure if I can afford these yet though. Comments (7)Hi. A non-pro idea, ignoring the cost of moving utilities.. It's not drawn to scale but I think/hope (!) it would work leaving a 3ft passageway around most things. I'd put sliding or folding doors on the play room so it can be opened and closed as necessary. I'd close off the living room access. You can put a sink/hob etc on the island or alternatively a shorter Island with an L shaped kitchen. Comments (25)I would have poo poo’d this idea before as I’d wonder what the point was, but make your self a mood board using the colours roughly in the same ratios. Are you planning on having some artwork as this may be the lynchpin that helps it hang all together. Pulling colours through from that will help the scheme. Tonal can be soft and soothing but needs layering up with texture to create a cohesive scheme. 3 years agoThey are both lovely but in a north facing room? I’m not sure, it can be light sapping. Be careful about a wood worktop where the sink is. Wood and water don’t mix and the wood can get very stained over time. I have wood and it has a lovely warmth to it and it will need oiling every few months too. Would you consider a lighter unit colour?

3 years agoYes Marta the rest of your ideas would go better with the darker kitchens. I often see on Houzz “embrace the darkness” so maybe you should? 😊. Choose what you love. My sister dithered from white, contemporary handless but eventually chose a deep grey-blue Shaker style kitchen. We all have a wobble sometimes! This is a bit hers.

3 years agoI’ve got a black (ish) kitchen, in a 4x4m very dark room. I have wood (scaffold plank) worktops, apart from around the sink.

3 years agoIf you are in two minds with the worktops why not do both? A mixture of a natural wood worktop and a marble, Quartz, Corian island always looks great. For me I wouldn't want all wooden worktops as they are much more work to maintain then something like the other materials mentioned. We have some projects on our page where customers have mixed the materials and they look fantastic! Have a look...
