Comments (1)I think a mirrored wall could look great. Do you think your budget could stretch to antiqued mirror? If you want it to look inviting, why not use a console as a desk and put it on the mirrored wall with maybe a couple of lamps? Consoles also look good with chairs in front. If you want more of a full time working desk can you take pics from other angles please? Although a console would still look good there...See MoreHelp for our Hall Paint Colour Dilemma
Comments (1)I'm no expert but I think I would paint the walls stiffkey right up to the cornice to avoid that striped look (ie painting over the picture rail). Then do the cornice, ceiling and all woodwork (skirtings, door frames and doors) in Cornforth or blackened. Painting the doors in stiffkey (and therefore the door frames and skirtings too) is a real statement and I'm sure it would be very dramatic. It just depends on your style. Either way it's a beautiful hallway and will look great. Good luck with it!...See Morehallway lighting dilemma
Comments (4)Thanks for the comments. spotlights might be a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I should've said that there's no room for furniture at that end of the hall as there's a doorway, then the kitchen door opens back along one side, and on the other side there's access to the understairs storage. The other complication is we plan to redecorate in a year or two, replacing the floor, ripping out the 80s coving and redoing the ceiling and walls. So although the LED strip and cornice is a great idea, it's not something e could do right now....See MoreHall lighting dilemma
