how to obtain this form of ceiling lighting?

Can you advise on how we can get this look re ceiling and lighting. We want to convert our attic into a tv room for my boys but I just don't know how to get the same effect. The boys love this room.

Hi Alison, it is a great looking room, thanks.

A builder would construct a secondary ceiling detail with a lip around the edge where concealed LED lighting can be installed. Hope that helps.

Thank you everyone for the fantastic ideas so far! They are all contenders. JML Garden Rooms, i love the cage look and have not thought of that. mrsmcee74 again fab idea, I had looked at Dunelm but don't remember seeing them. AJ Interior LTD I think you get my idea and want something different and is absolutely fantastic,unfortunately hubby would not allow me to purchase :-( , I would in a heartbeat as I love them!!! Hi joelizabeth, They ship internationally and sit in a showroom that is twice the size of your living room... They are actually quite sizeable, granted they are not larger spheres, but offer a different kind of cluster light because they can hang quite low and they offer bespoke sizing.. I see what you mean- they do really work with grey or a darker colour scheme.. but the transparency of them can look really magical.. They have bright led's inside which illuminate the pebble - and so accent the little lights you have on those twigs.. With a couple of lower lighting options like a table lamp or a wall light... I could see them hanging off centre quite easily... Leaving the fan well alone.. Having them sitting off centre, is more interesting sometimes than having everything looking symmetrical.. Sometimes symmetry doesn't work... With the option to have them hanging at differing heights, you can create a unique configuration or even have them in a straight line.... They are glass ovals situated in a nickel metal surround and chain which houses the flex/cord which is woven into it. At the moment showrooms in London and New York.. You will find what works for you.. : ) )

in the living areas, yes. bedrooms, bathroons? noooo! even in the living areas, id need curtains to provide some privacy, or one way glass, or a high fence, or no neighbours for miles and miles and for the world to forget that telescopes and binoculars were ever invented... in short, i want to watch, not to be watched.

Hi ! Just looking at your plans briefly - it’s clear that due to cabinetry on all four walls - you won’t get a very big table in there ! You mentioned no wall units due to having enough storage elsewhere - but - if you had wall cabinets storage and storage to the patio doors on the top wall - you could take off some perimeter cabinets to give room for a table that’s larger than ‘just’ a four seater one ? There’s a lot more that could be done with this space in my professional opinion. Re colours - in a north facing room if you chose ‘winter’ colours you will need to warm it up a tad with woods and other tricks like tactile accessories. Scandi style for example uses whites and pale greys warmed up with pale woods and real or faux animal fur on benches or seats to add warmth ... Alternatively brilliant white cabinetry on pale Egyptian Cotton walls can look great too and is warmer than most grey toned paint . re lighting - if this drawings is true and it’s a flat extension then lighting could be LEDs in ceiling throughout - but if the new part is a vaulted ceiling then cable lighting might work or stronger LEDs higher up could also work but there will be a shadow line where the change in height happens. ... To summarise, this is ok - could be better and if worked on by someone with more of a ‘design driven’ background - time could be spent trying different colours for you and looking at lighting options and the table would be included in the drawings to show you what space you actually end up with ... you could see what it could look like in a more real image.
