sitting room needing help will be open plan to kitchen how to go about design

I'd pick out the kitchen and flooring first. Because those are the things that won't be easy to change. Then go from there. If you can, look at samples of kitchen doors/worktops/floors in the actual space. The light in there will be very different to the light in a showroom or to online photos and this will affect the colours of the samples. Also, look at a door sample vertically (as it will be in the kitchen) and hold a worktop sample horizontally with it. This again has to do with how the light 'hits' the surface and will change the colour.

If you want more to the point ideas, you need to be more specific with your question and we'd need more information about the room.

Having looked through this post, I have to say I love the way that this project has progressed so far. The dark purpleyblue used in your lights would be lovely for a splash of color perhaps paired with a softer pale blue. Some great pillows that would go in this way include a soft of aubergine and eggplant shade. (As demonstrated by the drape examples here). Good luck I look forward to seeing where your project takes you next as it looks a lovely peaceful room. :)

Hi, I love your sofas, warm and plush! You really need to get rid of the beige rug as grey and beige don't sit well together. Pick out a warmer more vibrant colour for the rug. Get rid of the black storage units, too dated. Also, to go is the mexican pine tv unit.....again with the brown and grey. You could paint the units off white or change them. You also need to make more of a feature of the window. The curtains need to be plush and thick like the sofa. I picked out on the purple cushions that you have as they sit really well with grey. I've done a little mock up for the 't.v' end of the room and changed the rug, you'll get the idea. Good luck x

Firstly, your living room looks amazing!! I think that it does need something else though. Nesting tables/side tables would be great. Try something like these? These would look great as they'd match your current colour scheme. These lightly gold coloured nesting tables would look elegant and compliment your blush/neutral coloured sofas and table lamp. Also, might be good to add some extra accessories that are a little different such as - Coral pieces always add a unique touch to any home and these would definitely match your colour scheme perfectly. Glass squat jars are extremely popular at the moment, with this smoked one you could leave it empty or fill. If you're looking for a mirror, these would look lovely above your fireplace as theyre elegant and charming but also unusual which will attract attention to the centre which would hopefully help even out. thank you. yes I understand we will be knocking the wall onto the kitchen to for open plan its just hard to know what way to go. do we keep a running theme in the house or change it up. or especially the idea of wood floors all way through kitchen sitting room the same?

Maybe start collecting a palette of materials rather than colours and let the materials determine the palette. For example, if you like natural slate, then taupes and greens and browns look good. A wood floor or wooden kitchen could be a good starting point for related colours and materials. What sort of thing do you like?

If I look at your ideabook, I see grey and green. And modern with a classic touch. A wooden floor running all through the ground floor is lovely. You can use wood in a kitchen, as long as you wipe up spills immediately. Think it also depends on the finish of the wood. Best thing is to ask the supplier.

Or you could go for LVT, which looks like wood, but probably is easier to maintain. If you have underfloor heating: tiles or LVT.

Wood or woodlook LVT will also bring warmth and would work lovely with a grey kitchen for example. Or with a green kitchen. Gorgeous!

Thank you for all that I wouldn't go dark in kitchen want a nice bright kitchen. And have spot light overhead too with couple hanging lights for over the island. But as it opens into kitchen i am just finding it hard to settle for what will look good throughout. I like white kitchen I think or light grey very hard to decide as this picture is the latest love . Two very different styles kitchen and can't decide
