Can pale pink walls work with a bright orange sofa?
Houzz has provided super decorating advice throughout lockdown, thank you! So I thought I would ask another question. I want to paint my home office (I worked from home even before COVID). We have just put in a skylight to bring in more light to the small dark space. I am now ready to decorate and want to paint the walls a pale pink as it supposedly helps with concentration and reduces stress! But I have a bright orange sofa bed in the room that I can't move anywhere else, nor do I want -- or can afford -- to get rid of it. Can pale pink work against the bright orange sofa bed? For the pink, I'm currently looking at either Julie's Dream from Little Greene or Pink Ground from F&B, though I'm open to others. Below are photos of the messy room as it currently is.

The sofa covers are removable but the replacements are pretty much the price of a new sofa and I'm stuck with the sofa because a family member gave us it so it's more to not hurt their feelings. Never really thought of dying them. I thought about possible lifting the skirt of the sofa as the sofa it's self has black wood legs and risen off the ground. I do like the idea of some eccentric colours to match. I don't think I could swap the sofa and chair and there is a door behind the chair. I will try to take a pic from another angle. The other wall basically has a to in the corner next to fire and then another door and a blank wall space. I'm not attached to any furniture in this room either so new white furniture would be nice. Grey works incredibly well with that shade of blue however nothing's stopping you from going for a very light blue/green as Period Property Store demonstrated. Comments (20)Hi Dawn, Copper accents are a lovely idea. Have you seen the Orient Lamp from Lightyears? It's quite a statement piece, but it would tie the room together. Orient Copper Pendant Lamp Another more subtle option might be the Cloche table lamp, which comes in a polished brass shade. Wrong London Cloche Lamp This orange Lune sofa is a punchy, warm colour. Fritz Hansen have got several photos of it with different styled interiors. In this one, they used several accent colours on the wall, and a fantastic metallic line across. Bringing in bright colours is easier with an already bright sofa - they stand out in contrast to the orange sofa, but the grey walls balance them. Comments (7)I think a neutral sofa is a good choice. Navy is actually quite a neutral shade that will go with so many colours. I also like charcoal grey, and let’s not knock a cream or beige sofa! I agree that it’s best to base a rooms decor around the most expensive item and work from there. I think you will tire of a bright pink sofa. I fell in love with a bright red sofa once, but came to my senses and bought a more neutral one! So glad I did. How about a range of pink cushions on a navy/grey sofa? Or pick , say, the mustard yellow in the rug and get cushions to match? A rug would ideally be one of the final purchases to pull it all together.
