I'm currently a student of Residential Interior design at the KLC school of Design, London, England. I'm looking for a Mentor's great advice and expertise to help me get through my studies. I would really appreciate you help, don't hesitate to get in touch if you can share your knowledge of the study process of Interior Design.

Hi Céline - which areas of interior design do you love the most ? Are you passionate about fabrics or love sofas or intrigued by lighting or spacial design ??

Hello Amanda, : )) Do you mean in the kitchen? Yes a nice idea. I like flat plate too, but really plain. Well the best way to describe how I feel about certain alterations is to tell you about someone I knew who "did up" her flat to such a degree that she literally took away all that was characterful about it.. Sometimes it's best to leave things as their patina develops over time and results in something quite special. Restoration is one thing but you can also restore the life out of something and thus diminish in certain contexts the value- and so it's good to know when to stop.. So yes, I'm firmly in the camp suggesting leave them, but of course it's entirely your choice. : ))

Bad tile job, looking for solutions

I think this job was beyond the skill set of the guy who did it or you have a fundamental issue with the quality of the tiles or the evenness of your walls and he should have alerted you to that before pressing on with a bad job. If it were me I couldn’t live with this and would have the tiles off and do it again. I can’t imagine the first guy will be able to do it better a second time so I would get someone else. Next time get someone who identifies the issue (tile quality, poor wall walls etc) but can provide solutions to and issues and can assure you that they can provide a clean cut on the tiles you have purchased. I would specify tile trims as well in order to neaten up corners.

I use a program called pipette, https://www.sttmedia.com/pipette-download and you can find the colour composition of any image ie rgb, cmy etc, its also the true colour of the image and not how your screen presents it. Obviously with a photo this won't be the actual colour and also with a photo the colour changes in different parts of the photo. You could then download colour charts and use pipette to see which colour is closest to the photo results or do a search on line for the #hex colour, you can try encycolorpedia.com and that gives you a list of paints that are close to it.

I’ve bought Scion/Harlequin fabrics from Fashion Interiors in Coventry www.fashioninteriors.co.uk and was very pleased. The fabric was also nicely packed on a roll, not folded! They also do blinds, curtains and poles although I’ve never bought them, only the fabric. There are so many lighting companies online. I’ve used Lighting Direct www.lighting-direct.co.uk and Wayfair.
