Has anyone used F&B Tallow in a north facing room?
Comments (22)We used Tallow in our previous house in a bedroom, it was a north-east facing room. To me, it looked a bit too much like magnolia, maybe because of the strong purple accent wall. Funnily enough, we are friends with the people who bought the house from us 4 years ago; about 2 months ago they called to say they had some minor repair done to the bedroom and asked if we remember what paint we used, as they love it and don't want to change it.... (I am pathetic like that, I do remember what paint colour we used in every room we decorated in the last 7 years or so....) The only photos I have were taken when we moved out... Hope this helps - good luck!...See MoreWalls colour to go with Persian carpet
Comments (10)I tend to think it's really worth deciding what it is you want to jump out and be a feature and what it is you'd rather wasn't noticed ;) If the rug is one of the loveliest things in the room and you want that to feature more (plus set against parquet floor which is lovely too) then I'd probably choose a colour that doesn't overpower the rug. Saying that and putting rug to one side I would personally be inclined to keep a dark shade (particularly as it appears to set off the sofa nicely) - maybe Stiffkey Blue or Pelt by F&B would work. If that would still overpower the rug (and this is to be a feature you want picked out) then go light and perhaps take it onto the ceiling too/ pick out the coving/ picture rail/ skirting and doors with a different shade. I did my lounge in Blackened (walls + ceiling) with Cornforth on woodwork/ doors / Wimborne on picture rail and coving. I would personally lose the curtains/ pelmet - looks a bit 'heavy' and quite dominating - however if those are lovely (hard to tell from pic) then again to make them more of a feature then go light on the walls.... Comments (115)Hello! It’s arrived but is being fitted Monday :0) The colour wasn’t quite what I wanted as although it’s not supposed to have any blue in it, if can look blue in some lights. I don’t mind it looking deep navy but sometimes it looks lighter. Will see when it’s all up though as with the worktop on the island and overhang, it will probably just look more black! Bear in mind the company didn’t use actually F&B paints as they mix their own. Definately advises paying for a test door first as they got the colour totally wrong at first (was bright blue!) and it was hard work getting the manufacturers to check it and do it again. They almost didn’t....See MoreF+B pelt for bedroom... will it be too dark?
Comments (10)This was a colour scheme I always liked Not as dark s you want but I always liked the contrast aginst the mural which re me of your quilt ohh, just on another note, I’d not do a feature wall and the ceiling the same colour, id go all the walls and ceiling an off white as an option , all walls and ceiling the same colour as another and just the feature wall at the third, probably go for a light colour on the floor, I like carpet in the bedroom, if going wood floor I’d have a custom rug that would give a border of @1 1/2 foot of the wooden floor all round the room, yes expensive but I really love the look. my livingroom wasn’t really working for me until I had a custom rug done and it so ties it all together now, I have a border all around and the floor showing below around the edge....See MoreRichard G
