Does F&B Theresas green go with this carpet colour?
Sorry it’s not a great image but I was just trying to decide if Farrow & Ball Theresas Green goes with this grey carpet?? Or is there a colour I could paint the skirtings etc to make it work perhaps?

I think your carpet is possibly from the Yellow Hue Family and Teresa’s Green is from the Green Hue Family.
There is a connection, but pulling a colour from the same Hue Family neighbourhood as your carpet may make the visual link even stronger.

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoI don't think it's a great match. If you want a greenish colour, I think I'd prefer French Gray (the white is F&B Clunch). But not sure whether that'll go with the furniture/furnishings in the room?

Comments (10)Thank you all for your input. I need to perfect the art of closing one eye to block out other colours! I was not good at this! I think you need bigger sample cards than I used. I couldn't paint on the wall as there's currently wallpaper there. My local F&B stockist suggested Shaded White which is a nice, "safe" neutral I think and as the room is quite dark, it seems to work better than the greyer shades I was trying. I guess sometimes what you want is different from what will actually work best and Shaded White seems a good compromise. Comments (35)Firstly, Happy New Year fellow Houzzers! Hope 2019 is happy, healthy and generally good for everyone. Want to again pass my thanks to you all for all the responses, advice and inspiration. Without you I don't think we would have got to where we have with the room. As you may have guessed, I am updating the thread because we have finished it (mostly!). The jury is still out on painting the dresser as I don't want 'matchy-matchy' so I am going to live with it for a while as it is. We absolutely love the room and it is beautiful in the morning light. The wallpaper is the Sanderson Chiswick Grove Sage, the paneling and skirting is in F&B Breakfast Room Green eggshell, the ceiling in a pure trade white with the doors and cupboard in F&B James White eggshell. All the woodwork too 4 coats to cover the sanded orange varnish. :( The curtains are the old Ikea things we had up so I need to decide on what to replace them with (they got paint on them so need to go). My lovely sister gave me a really nice brass chandelier so the old light will go too. Also thinking about a jute/sisal rug for under the table, anything patterned would be too much I think. At some point I will replace the black Ikea lamps too. But at the moment they are doing a job. I don't want the lighting to be too old fashioned as the room would go a bit chintzy I think. Comments (14)I have Mizzle on our hall, stairs and landing, Cromarty in my office and Tranquil Dawn in my lounge. For the F&B Mizzle and Cromarty I purchased a lookalike from Johnstones. Much cheaper and I like Johnstone’s paint. Colour was the same. When I had a Dulux Tranquil Dawn tester I took it to Johnstones and the colour was nothing like when I tried it on the walls, so I stayed with the Dulux brand. Cromarty is the lightest out of them all. A pale green with what I’d class as the merest undertone of a silver glint in it. Mizzle looks different in different situations. In our hall it can look as though it has a definite blue tint, while up the stairs and on the landing it’s a green. Our hall is bright hence the blue coming out. Still nice though. Dulux Tranquil Dawn is their 2020 colour. It’s in my lounge and is a greeny grey. A very modern clean colour. I think all the colours will look different depending on the light. Comments (23)Chipping in from my experience. I painted my bedroom in Studio Green. Everything. Walls, skirting, cornice, ceiling, door, frame, built in wardrobe doors. (Actually window frame is a soft white). During painting I thought what have I done? But, end result is fantastic. Takeaways: be bold. Go darker than you think. (I tried over 20 colours before settling on SG). On that note, try more colours. Sulking room pink was one of those 20. Painting everything the same looks so good. Back to your original post, imho the darker colour works better with the chair. And totally changing tack, my front room is in Winterwood by Benjamin Moore. Work out in which Hue Family the carpet belongs - and find a colour from the same neighbourhood to harmonise. They will have an organic connection. They will relate.
I would let the expensive finishes in the space drive the paint colour choices for the best chance of creating colour harmony between materials.
The trouble is , when we fall in love with a paint colour first, it doesn’t mean it’s going to work the most seamlessly with what we already have.

3 years agoSo, have painted the walls Mizzle, really like the colour but the white skirtings etc to my eye now look a bit stark - any opinions on whether I should paint these? My wife would like to paint the skirting & architraves in Mizzle too as it seems to be the trend but having a hard time visualising it. Any thoughts? Thanks again.

3 years agoI would definitely do the woodwork to match. I’ve started doing this in our house and I don’t think I could ever go back to white now. I’ve attached a photo of our daughter’s bedroom as an example (we have a similar carpet).
