This is new townhouse construction in Newport Oregon. We do have all the specs and renovation of the site has started.

Simplest way is to visit your local stone merchants and see what they have - as each piece is unique ! When you see one you like - ask them to reserve it or buy it there and then !! You'd be surprised - some can come in lengths longer than you would imagine !!! Besides - it's a fun day out too !! Enjoy it !

Big exacting project :-) I would go for tiles in the kitchen area (provided it's a good solid floor) and wood everywhere else. I think a well considered rug or two add warmth and character. And you can change them around to suit time of year and decoration. My primary reason for not choosing carpet is that the space will be much larger and more easily accessed and used, carpet will get dirty quite quickly in this situation. A friend of mine has successfully added motto an style tiled areas within a wooden floor. The breaks the space up in a totally different way, by making the area a focus (is under dining table or round kitchen island) rather keeping the room division as focus. Hope that makes sense!

HiMacs or corian are often used in bathrooms too ! Check you local bathroom studios for more info ... They will maybe have some inspirational past job it's too !

Asifa, thanks for your comments, appreciate the photos as it helps put things in prospective. I'm looking at getting a Quartz brand CQ Maderia which is busier than anything I've used before so just a bit scared I'll look at the finished product and think What have I done! On the other hand really tempted to risk it.

You’re still not giving us anything to work with. What is a making you question whether marble will “fit” in the townhouse?

Marble works with most any style. As long as you’re aware that marble does not stay pristine...that even after sealing, the stone will still etch from lemon juice, wine, etc., i.e., It develops a patina...and you’re okay with that, then don’t hesitate. Honing of the stone, disguises the etching some. On polished marble, the etches will be more evident.

Marble is beautiful. If I hadn’t chosen soapstone for my kitchen, I’d have gone with marble.
