Hey Monica. I'm good thanks. OMG we somehow managed to choose a Duracell kangaroo! She injured herself though and has been on crate rest for weeks, it's been hell for all :( Fingers crossed she will be ok, she's adorable. I Feel as if I've aged at least 40 years and am seriously considering buying knee pads with all my time spent on the floor (along with full body armour!). I know decorators often prefer certain brands but I'm sure he will be able to get a good finish whatever. I know F&B and little Greene detail the sheen level on their websites so I'm sure others do. This sandtex one did look very glossy though!

Good morning, May I suggest for the front door and garage be painted the same in a very high gloss, possibly from farrow and balls collection a colour that has similarly to the stone used on the house such as.....Archive or Oxford stone which should compliment the brown window frames? I would also suggest you remove all the terracotta planters and replace them with some contemporary natural stone or paint the planters same as the door and they should be tall and plant some large box balls or sphere shapes which should update the look? There's probably a lot of houses nearby that have similar colours in the brick and similar doorways so wander around and see if any inspire you. I like a muted mid-green against the brick. Blues (and teals) also look good with the orange brick. You've got to make sure the colour isn't too 'clean' though (so not a clean baby blue) as the render and brick are both 'dirty'/muted colours. I'd prefer to see something either paler or more colourful - but nothing too dark as it just turns the space into a black hole (like your neighbours). Another option is to paint the woodwork around the door a pale neutral and then just paint the actual door the colour - it'll stick out more that way rather than blend into the background. I agree with you on the black windowsills - they are making the windows appear smaller and look like bags under the eyes of the house. It does tie in the black from the woodwork on the gable end though and keeps it in keeping with the neighbours - would you consider painting all the woodwork on the front of the house?
