help! my new hallway needs "something" but i don't know what!
Comments (16)Hi There I would add a hallway runner to take away the echo that would be there (due to there being a hard floor). I would also add something in the hall either a coat rack wall, mounted or free standing and change the light fittings for something unusual, a striking fitting is what is necessary in a room with very few features....See MoreLovely bedroom, but don´t know what to do with it. Comments (23)HI MARINA, I love your bedroom- great high ceilings. Your furniture is also nice. I would follow the lead from the furniture keeping all furniture white. I love tropical coastal style. I would put up a white ceiling fan and ikea sell some white nets that let in loads of light and give privacy. I would decorate the walls in an off white with a hint of pink in it for warmth and to bring out the tones in your beautiful floor. I would collect local art for the walls. I would go to town on the bedding and cushions for the bed. I would mix your favourite colours- turquoise, teal, with green and coral. Making the room have a tropical coastal beach hotel vibe. I would feel like I was on holiday every day and never want to leave. Once you've surrounded yourself with personal things like photo frames of loved ones, plants/ flowers etc, you will feel right at home and settled. I've loved decorating for years, and tried lots of colours on walls but recently I've returned to off whites as they are so flexible and you can change the look with coloured accessories regular. "2 good books to read are Greg Natale - 'A tailored interior'- He's great, and tells you trade secrets to give your home the wow factor an be your own interior designer. Also anything by Barclay Butera - he's the best for coastal/beach styles. Wishing you lots of fun....See MoreHelp! new carpet doesn’t work!
Comments (13)If you can’t rent it and the market says you need to change it you either need to paint or replace the carpet. If the cost is the same I would replace the carpet for three reasons- firstly it is quicker and so you can get a tenant in faster. Secondly the carpet does seem to have polarised opinion so another choice might be more commercial. Lastly the carpet might have a second hand value. One further thought- UK homes painted white throughout look superb if they are softened with lots of soft furnishings and natural materials. I think you might be thinking your house will look like that painted white but I worry that the contrast with the dark carpet will make it look harsh especially in the cold winter light....See MorePlease help. Comments (18)Hi. You have the makings of a lovely family living room. I would flip the sofa so that it runs up the wall opposite the French door, and have the tv on the even shorter wall. Don’t put the tv too high, and paint the wall behind it dark blue, then the tv disappears. I like the rug and don’t think it’s too big. You need to get rid of all the miscellaneous stuff, and invest in some flexible storage. Give your table some room to breathe, it’s very beautiful and useful.don’t have it shoved in the corner. I think most peoples artwork is generic and dull, think about the places and things you love, and colours that you like, and then find a way to reflect that. Try to avoid having stuff that’s currently popular, it will just be filling charity shops in 2 years. Take your kids to an art gallery and all choose one thing you love. They may sell prints, or it may just inform your choices. I’m always drawn to figures, my husband prefers architectural stuff. Don’t be scared, don’t be too matchy, and don’t buy one tiny thing and stick it up high. Art should be at eye level.but hang your choices with proper respect. Introduce some texture, with throws and cushions. Please put in some plants. And keep the panelling, honestly that room needs depth....See MoreHU-43002582522
