Wet room renovation on mind...

I’m looking to turn a bathroom into a wet room. I’m hoping to remove the bath tub and replace it with a wet room. Any ideas? Thank you!

Loose the rad,put in underfloor heating and look for one of the angled compact corner WC's. I think they are about 790 x 400 - think about it in the back left corner with a small wash basin on the left wall , again you can get some as small as 250 x500. (The obvious place for the shower is the back area but it will be awkward moving past loo and sink ). The space as you come in would be your shower area- , drainage could go to middle of the room ,you might need to build up under WC pan slightly and remember not to put underfloor heating under area where pan is bolted down. You could back the door with a sheet of acrylic and make sure you have a plastic seal on the bottom or a linear drain by the door. Depends on how often you think you will use it ?

Go with big tiles, so that there is less grouting and therefore less possibility for the water to leak through over time. But we definitely suggest you opt for tiles, they will last you forever, they look smart and won’t scratch or fade like acrylic panels, etc would. Good luck with your bathroom renovation!

Also bear in mind that we had to have a raised shower ‘step’ in our loft room because the pipes need a drop and there wasn’t enough room under the floorboards to do this so you might possibly end up losing more head height.

Hi Ingrid, I really like the way it looks. Not sure if it's the wood panelling in the kitchen or the cosiness of living room. However, I'm guessing the house is old, and given all the blankets in the living room, you mum sitting in doors with a jumper on, the log burner, and electric radiator I'm going to assume it gets very cold in there! So I would reconsider going open plan. I think, unless you have a healthy budget for thermal upgrades, the log burner will struggle to heat the bigger space and electric heating will work out expensive. I would instead just replace the pocket doors with bigger ones so that your mum can have them open in warmer weather and close off the living room in colder weather. I would flip the kitchen door so that it opens into the entrance or replace it with a pocket door. Then I would swap the dining area over with the sink area, by raising the window ledge slightly, giving you mum a much more efficient L shaped kitchen. The fridge I would bring round to the pocket wall door and I would put the sink under which ever of the two windows has the better views. I think this layout would allow your mum to have a nice open plan kitchen/diner/living area in warmer weather and keep the cosy living room in colder weather. It would be achievable quite easily on a modest budget.
