Hi Lydia, the floor is actually ceramic tiles that look like wood, easy to clean and maintain.

Sadolin superdec may be what you are after but beware, a weathered look is a specialist finish. You cAnt really buy "weathered" it is after all an effect. I would say just give whatever you are using one coat, which would more than likely give it a worn look but it's not really a practical idea as when it's needs recoating it will give a stronger colour Alternatively give it a watery coat then varnish it to protect it

If it is untreated and has nothing on it whatsoever there are many options. I have just put down unfinished wide oak planks and have treated them with a white Osmo tinted oil. You can brush it on and leave it or you can remove the excess after 20 minutes to give a sunbleached look. You then apply a coat of Osmo clear and you are done. Personally I wouldn't mix the floor colours - especially when made of the same material. I have a dark wood floor colour throughout my house (except bathroom). The spare bedroom is quite small but if styled in a thoughtful way doesn't have to feel small - even with a dark floor. I like houses that has rooms that flow, rather than clash, as it can feel disjointed with many styles under one roof. For the smaller rooms you could always put down a light coloured rug to lighten the floor colour while maintaining a coherent design. Shannon
