last minute tile advice needed (tiling today)

To the left of the bath in my pic you will see a tall unpainted section that is to be tiled (same both ends of the bath).
There will be a rad on the wall and I was going to leave this untiled.
However, the wall is curved so tiling the upright bit is a mare as the tiles are ceramic and slightly bend to start with so it's leaving a big gap 🙄
The tiler suggested carrying the tiling across to the door at say 1.2 m high to copy the opposite sink wall. Won't this look odd though?
The right side where the sink will be will have a different tile half way up the sink wall so not the same concrete tile.
I also decided to leave the top of the tiles not going all the way up to the ceiling as the ceilings are 2.6 high plus the skylight made it feel like a tunnel. Visually it makes the room feel less high and more balanced and is about 250mm off the top.
It looks ok yes?

I think it’s quite normal to keep tiling at the same height so I would continue the tiling on the left at a height of 2.5m up to the door.

And there is no need to tile to the ceiling - in fact I think it looks better to stop at a full tile.

Re tiling to the door - the wall opposite though will have 1.2m to the right side of the bath as a feature wall in a honeycomb tile. So if I fully tiled the grey to the door and the opposite wall and side wall are left at half and no tiles, won't that look weird?

He said I probably have enough to half tile all the way around but it's more labour cost

When I moved in this house the previous owners had proper bathroom tiles in the bathroom but when wet they were ridiculously slippy. So my first concern would definitely be finding out if they are slippy when wet. Re aesthetics, I really like Carolina’s pic mixing wood effect tile with the white and black. I like the high shine of the large format tiles but just looking at them makes me scared of slipping.

Are you specifically wanting to go for a light paint colour as sometimes it's better just to embrace the dark? i don't know if I'd go for a bitter chocolate/mahogany on the walls (I should say if you like the chair then get a fabric sample, on the website the colour works better than when I looked for an image!). You could add natural linen Roman blinds and assuming the door is opposite the fire, then a big mirror opposite the window. Maybe also some art and a table lamp in the alcove? if you want light walls maybe Farrow and ball dimity (2nd pic) would be worth a tester?

@d_omongain, thank you! We actually saw those tiles but the colourway was wrong. The two versions of the tile we liked -- black on white and turquoise on white weren't available individually -- you had to buy either of these as a mixed set. If you work with this company, please encourage them to print different colourways! The quality seemed fantastic.

Matt, are you planning to lay this yourself or employ someone? Because the cost of fitting herringbone, especially glue down, will be more than the flooring itself. It will be A LOT. Which is false economy for a cheaper quality floor. There is a lot of prep work involved for glue down systems. Floor has to be levelled, latexed, polished, prepped. And they are a nightmare to get up if you ever needed to (eg water leak/bad scratch) I would spend more on a decent quality click style herringbone (it ‘clicks’ together rather than being glued to the substrate) & spend less on the fitting this way. So overall, even if the total cost is the same, you get better quality flooring that will last longer, is more durable, better quality & is easier to take up if you needed to in the future. Way faster & cheaper to fit, even a DIYer can fit it, really easy. Kahrs & Karndean (reputable brands) do it in 4 or 5 colours. QA Luvanto is another big brand, they do a good range of herringbone click in various colours. Lamett (Yukon range) have a good selection & is amazing quality & well priced. Moduleo do click style planks but not sure about Herringbone, have a look. Amtico & Polyfloor don’t yet, but will be moving towards this style as people are getting fed up of paying so much for the messy & expensive glue down fitting. Amtico & Polyflor now offer click style planks in some colours, but not yet HB. You could also search for ‘click herringbone LVT’ and ‘click parquet LVT’ on Google & see what you find. Main thing to look for is the wear layer (top layer) - the deeper the better. Also something with a good warranty (Min 10 years - but some are 20 years or even lifetime). Check out reviews, order samples (often free) & test them yourself with water & Key scratching! Anything designed for ‘heavy traffic’ or ‘commercial’ is of course going to be more hard wearing too & generally good. Also don’t be afraid to call/email the manufacturers direct for their recommendations, and to find out all the spec of the products so you could compare them. So, I would increase your budget for the floor itself - but decrease your budget for the fitting - by having a click version rather than glue down! £30m2 is realistic. How big is your area? Because sometimes the more you buy the better rate you get. Also look out for bank holiday/Easter discounts!

I think that since you will likely put a mirror behind the sink that whole wall will be covered so full tiles on door wall seems like it would match

He's managed to work the tiles to get them to sit against the wall now (after much cursing, lol) although they aren't technically straight but noone will notice (not even me and I'm a perfectionist 🤣) so 🤞

He said I can add any extra tiles to other areas at the end if I wanted to so will see how it looks first.

The sink wall is only having a round mirror on so all the top will be wall anyway.

Sometimes just typing it all up helps you make up your mind. 😁
