how to relate interiors to location

We moved to a newish house, based on a traditional/rustic design, in a village in Scottish highlands 6 years ago. I am a trained textile designer and decorated it in bold Scandi patterns (have Finnish relatives) and bright fabrics against neutral taupe walls. It now feels too zingy and wondering if I should have gone for more muted look and more trad to fit in with location, which is very rural (stone walls outside house) and rustic feeling of house. The two pictures at top of post are fabrics I've been looking at, they have a more rustic/modern feeling, what do you think?
