Disguise carpet
Comments (3)If it was just one carpet, I'd say keep it and decorate with raspberry, white and black as per image from decozt. Although to be honest I think the accessories go a long way to toning it down, not just paint and curtains as you already have light walls. However it is very overpowering in all rooms. Even if you are renting which can be a competitive market, I really do think you will be alienating a lot of potential tenants leaving it as. I personally think it is worth having it replaced to get it rented asap, the cost of the carpet could equal a few weeks rent. Having said that, consult an estate agent, they can do a free valuation and advise as to whether this will rent as it is in your location....See MoreHelp to disguise hideous "Sharps" brand built in
Comments (13)I would definitely wallpaper the cupboards judging by the styles and images that are influencing you. Maybe try a really dark colour over the tall shelving areas you can see, such as Annie Sloane's graphite (which I can vouch for as a good solution providing you let it cure properly, a min 24hours after waxing) before popping your stuff back in. Use the same paint on the outer edges of the cupboard fronts and frames, then take a bold, damask style wallpaper to finish the fronts, with some lovely antique handles. You could maybe use a little gilding wax just to lift the graphite a bit - a nice antique gold. You'd need to darken the work surface too. This sounds quite drastic, but I've done something similar myself (albeit it on a much smaller item). The colours are totally different here but hopefully it'll help you see what I mean. Comments (14)Legally I don't think you are supposed to do anything to a neighbour's fence/boundary wall etc except erect your own fence to hide it. There is already a shed attached to this wall so I assume there's either a good relationship with the neighbours or they don't know and weren't asked; as Daisy said they poss can't see it. It doesn't hurt to ask out of courtesy, I'd only think there would be a problem if any drilling affected their internal plaster but if it's a garage that might not be an issue. I wouldn't put up with that view from a lovely new window seat feature when it's a quick and potentially dramatic improvement (i say whilst lying in bed with no attempt to tackle my eyesore of a garden!!) Good luck!...See MoreHow to disguise the slope on flat roof extension
Comments (2)Maybe add a coloured roof lantern which would also lighten up the room and make it feel more spacious. https://www.chartwellfinishing.co.uk/products/roof-lanterns...See MoreUser
