Can I move staircases in a small house?

I'd like to buy this house

But the staircases are really steep and I don't feel the space is optimised as it could be. My dream would be that it had safer staircases and extended out of the back, taking some length from the existing kitchen and making the back wider. Is this possible? All advice really welcome?

Difficult to know without seeing the staircase. Are you able to upload a couple of photos?

Sounds like a project for an Architect ! Especially given you are hoping to convert attic too - as then you open a fire regs and escape route can of worms/ interesting stuff too ! Congrats on the purchase and impending new baby !

Move the stairs so they run alongside the utility wall - replacing the bathroom space. Then you get a hall from the front entry giving direct access to the kitchen. Hall storage can fit under the stairs near the kitchen. Upstairs, I would utilise the old stairwell and landing as ensuite and walk through wardrobe for the master bedroom., if you can sort out drainage ( you may be able to run it down to the downstairs hall and box it out) Expand the old w/c into a bathroom - you may be able to extend the bathroom over the stairwell a bit, if the downstairs stud is high enough. How would you would feel about the whole downstairs being open plan? You could put in a small porch from the front door and a new door into the living room and take away remaining internal walls to open up everything. I think there is something about not having a loo open straight off a kitchen so you could have a lobby at the back which would also reduce noise travelling upstairs. Moving the door in the kitchen would mean people aren't running down the stairs through the kitchen while you are cooking.

Tbh I’d say keep the tv in proportion to the actual size of room and then look for possible fixing methods, a lot of people do the opposite, get a tv the size of a wall and wonder where to put it, nothing looks worse that a tv to big for a room in my eyes.
