Has anyone built a safe into their house whilst doing an extension? just something we thought about today

We have a standard safe screwed to the wall inside our wardrobe. Not that we ever have any money to put in it 😤🙄

A friend of mine installed a safe in an unused chimney breast when renovating their home - it's at head height and covered with a picture on the wall so totally hidden. Thought it was a really good place for one if you feel the need!

Thanks, I will look for some stronger patterned cushions instead of some of the plain ones, I am still looking for a side table, lamp etc so can bring in a bit more interest there.

Grey! I absolutely love a different finish to windows. I adore this window: Photo But perhaps you should got for a white internal frame to reflect daylight into your home unless you're going for a "designer" look inside too. Hello again The layout of your kitchen (cupboard location), as well as your preferences, affects the decision of island or peninsula. You can not properly decide on whether an island/peninsula suits you and your space better, without viewing each as part of its optimal design. The dishwaher, when open, is an obstruction of the walkway. Where is the bin by the way? In the second plan you have a short stretch of landing space between the stove and oven, near the fridge. It would end up serving all three in all likelihood, and is "the walk-in aspect of the pantry adds little" I'm not suggesting your pantry is too small in size. To have a walk-in the way yours is indicated (2nd plan particularly), you may as well have a cupboard of shelves or pull out drawers. It is simply recessed, it does not add useable storage space. I took the window dimensions to be mm, not inches. 3m is better. What direction does it face? Again, is this a new build? It would help to see this as part of the larger plan, even a simple sketch. There are things you can always work around, the fridge to sink distance, the landing space, pretty much everything. But you can have workable or optimal. I strongly recommend you meet with a designer if at all possible. In-person, s/he will be able to assess your space and talk about preferrences far more. They should also work out zones for prep, cooking, clean up, and so on, to get a well functioning end result. Also, if you post this under 'Kitchen forums', you'll get even more in depth, and better advice from the regulars there.

I’m not a solicitor but I’d have thought they should have got probate organised before marketing the house. I’ve been executor and got everything organised before marketing and so it was really quick to complete as there was no chain. I don’t understand how you were expecting the keys and now they’re doing more searches. In your position I would ask your solicitor (not the estate agent- they represent the seller not you, so always be careful what you tell them) to establish exactly what is outstanding and then explain it to you with expected timescales- you can then assess whether you need to extend your mortgage offer. If it’s just minor things (eg executors often can’t answer standard conveyancing questions) then you can look at how important they are and alternatives (eg insurance policies can sometimes deal with missing documents). Check with the solicitor that he has everything on your side too (eg final mortgage documentation).
